In the interest of Economic Recovery and Deficit Reduction, should repeal of some of the odious restrictions?!

Question: In the interest of Economic Recovery and Deficit Reduction, should repeal of some of the odious restrictions?
on Child Labor be repealed?

Don't misunderstand me. I don't want to see 12 year olds mining coal again.

But the FLSA (Federal Labor Standards Act) which was written by Radical Socialists goes too far in my opinion.

Americans under the age of 16 are prohibited by law from operating tractors in most cases, can't work in manure pits, drive fork lifts or trenching equipment. The list of regulations go on.

And an American has to be 18 year of age to operate Earth moving equipment, load timber over 6' in diameter, handle blasting caps or work in the manufacture of strong explosives (fireworks are exempt) and the list goes on.

If some of these regulations could be lifted by the Tea Party, businesses would be more able to create new jobs and the need for Public Schools Teachers would be less, leading to more competition for their jobs and therey breaking their Unions.

Individual skills among young people vary but many are quite capable of doing these jobs.

Isn't it time for the government to get out of our lives?

Answers:

How would making more people eligible for the existing jobs create new jobs?
Why would fewer public school teachers be a good thing?
Oh, I see, if the kids don't go to school they can work in the dynamite factory.

Maybe some yes.

Even a full repeal of child labor laws won't see 12 year olds in coal mines. Back in those days, the kids didn't have a choice and the parents didn't care. Things have changed since then.
