How much does a caterer make in a year?!

Question:

How much does a caterer make in a year?

Answers: It depends on many different factors, the biggest is how well you know the business and can corectly cost out the event and be able to make a good profit. I have done jobs the have netted 5 grand, but have lost money too. I don't loose money any more. As time goes by, many of your costs decrease due to many factors. I used to do this full time a few years back and made about 65,000 a year. But the time constraints were too much as I wanted more out of my family like. Yes, catering is a full time job plus a whole lot more. Depends on the size of the operation. When I did industrial and commercial catering for the Atlanta area. (i had to quit after being hit by a car on my motorcycle) I cleared about 250,000 an year after taxes and payroll and such. You work your butt off though. I fed more people in the factory cafeterias than the entire school system on a daily basis. About 3,000 meals a day plus weddings and events. It is non stop once you get a good reputation. I never had to advertise EVER! word of mouth was my best friend. Do every job as if it is your most important , but don't get stressed over it. (If possible) There is a lot to it though, Linen, plates, transportation, licensesand on and on. I am very Happy with my Country club job and work many less hours even though I only make 1/2 as much. I actually see my kids now! wow!
