How can i make a cake from scratch?

I am interested in learning how to bake a plain, delicious pound cake from scratch. My mother did it once and it was so good! I want to be able to do that. (yum!)

Many many good recipes. BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE

3 cups sifted flour
3 cups sugar (or powdered sugar)
3 sticks salted butter (softened)
5 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 325°F. Sift flour 3 times with sea salt and baking soda, then set aside.
Put softened butter and sugar in mixing bowl, mix for 15 minutes on medium speed.

Break eggs into a bowl, then reduce speed to low. Add eggs one at a time.

Stir vanilla.



Divide flour into three portions then add, alternating with liquid, as follows:

When thoroughly mixed, add one cup of flour, then a half cup of buttermilk, one more cup of flour, then another cup of buttermilk, then the last cup of flour. Mix well, but do not overmix!
. (A rubber spatula helps to scrape down sides of bowl while mixing).

Pour batter into a greased and flour-dusted Bundt Pan.

Bake At 325°F for 70-75 minutes for a 12 cup Bundt, or 45-60 minutes when using mini Bundt pans. PRE-HEAT OVEN @350*
LEMON SYRUP:
1CUP FRESH LEMON JUICE
1CUP SUGAR
PINCH OF SALT
IN A POT ADD IN JUICE,SUGAR&SALT,COOK UNTIL SUGAR IS DISSOLVED,TAKE OFF HEAT&PLACE TO THE SIDE,UNTIL YOUR READY TO USE.
FOR CAKE:
ZEST OF 2 LEMONS
3TABLESPOONS FRESH LEMON JUICE
1 POUND BUTTER
3 1/3CUP SUGAR
1/2TEASPOON GROUND MACE
10 EGGS
4CUPS FLOUR(SIFTED)
BUTTER&FLOUR 2 LOAF PANS,PLACE TO THE SIDE
IN MIXER ADD IN BUTTER&SUGAR,CREAM UNTIL LIGHT AND FLUFFY,PUT ALL EGGS INTO A BOWL WITH VANILLA,ADD IN ONE EGG@,MAKE SURE TO LET THE EGG COMPLETLY MIX IN BEFORE ADDING IN THE NEXT,DO THIS UNTIL ALL EGGS ARE IN,ADD FLOUR,1/2CUP@,THEN ADD IN MACE, LEMON JUICE&LEMON ZEST(BE SURE TO SCRAP DOWN SIDES OF YOUR BOWL)MEASSURE OUT MIX EVENLY INTO BOTH PANS,COVER WITH ALUMINUM FOIL AND BAKE FOR THE FIRST 30 MINUTES,REMOVE FOIL&BAKE FOR ANOTHER 30 MINUTES,TEST CAKE BY PUTTING IN TOOTHPICK INTO THE CENTER,IT SHOULD COME OUT CLEAN,THEN REMOVE FROM STOVE,POKE HOLES INTO CAKE
AND SOAK WITH LEMON SYRUP, REMOVE FROM PANS&ALLOW TO REST ON RACK BEFORE CUTTING.
