I like hot dogs, but what are they made of?!

Question:

I like hot dogs, but what are they made of?

I have been buying Kosher franks for the last couple of months, even though the are more expensive. I love hot dogs, but what about the other brands? What makes Ball Park Franks "plump when you cook them". That isn't natural is it?

Answers: hot dogs are the nastiest thing you could eat. Well, if you know what's in them. so i'm gonna tell you. it's the rest of the animal that's left after the good meat has benn taken. i mean the intestines, eyes, etc. even the bones, it's all grounded very finely hot dogs are made of intestines and whatever is in the intestines Buy the all-beef hotdogs. The others are made up of a variety of pork and turkey or chicken parts. There are all kinds of hot dogs. There is veggie dogs, chicken, beef, even ham. there made out of pig. Something in the pigs body You Really Wouldn't Want To Know............ Hot Dogs do plump up a little when they are fully cooked.
You can buy reg. one that has pork and chicken in them.
I buy beef hot dogs that is 100% beef. They are better and better for us. I like them too. Everything but the squeel!
Seriously, a federal meat inspector told me the best ones to buy were Oscar Meyer all beef. Some are made of pork, beef, chicken or turkey.
Some: the combination of the above! There is no fixed specification for hot dog meat, with pork and beef being the most popular. Less expensive hot dogs typically contain chicken, due to the low cost and availability of mechanically separated chicken, and some pork. Hot dogs are generally regarded as unhealthy insofar as most have high sodium, fat and nitrate content. In recent years, due to changing dietary preferences in the U.S., manufacturers have turned to turkey, chicken, or vegetarian meat substitutes as well as lowering the salt content.

As with virtually all sausages, hot dogs must be in a casing in order to be cooked. Traditionally this casing is made from the thoroughly cleaned small intestines of sheep, and are known as "natural casing" hot dogs or frankfurters. These kinds of hot dogs are preferred by some for their firmer texture and the "snap" that releases juices and flavor when the product is bitten into. i like a grilled hot dog too, on occasion, but i really do not want to know what they are made of because of all the talk that i have heard. if you watch the show "unwrapped" it will show you how and what they are made of. You REALLY don't want to know what is inside hot dogs and sausages. In this situation, what you don't know is what is best (?) for you! Enjoy the by-products! Ask Phil Dirtbox he.s the expert. My foster father used to say Lips 'n @ssholes.... Hot dogs are mostly made from:

?Meat
?Meat fat
?A "cereal filler" (bread crumbs, oatmeal or flour)
?A little egg white
?Spices (onion, garlic, salt, pepper, etc.)

and there are also veggie dogs. veggie dogs are 100% vegetarian, and have less fat.
veggie dogs are made of

?Soy (or wheat)
?A "cereal filler" (bread crumbs, oatmeal or flour)
?Spices (onion, garlic, salt, pepper, etc.)
?And other things. ( compared to other companies) I made hot dogs one summer for a very popular company. So it was name brand but I would not say high end like Vienna beef or Nathan's. I felt better about hot dogs after working there. First they were not made from organs, intestines, etc. They were made from slices of "meat". The reason I say "meat" is because the cuts had alot of fat on them. The people there took their job seriously and were very conscientious about food safety. When I was in high-school I worked at a fast food company and saw things that make my stomach queasy. Anyway, my experience for a name brand company was that there was lots of fat a little meat and no lips or anuses. The low fat dogs were mainly water. Hot dogs are made of disgusting stuff (as everybody here has already laid out for you). My suggestion is that you broaden your mind a little bit and try for some healthier hot dogs that aren't made out of odd leftover particles of animals. Yves Veggie Cuisine is a brand that makes very authentic hot dogs that are completely meat free so you don't have to worry about them having anything weird in them. Give it a shot, just once for the heck of it and see if you like them! Most hot dogs are generally made up of the parts that a normal butcher/supermarket meat aisle cannot sell, for example instestines, snouts, unused meat scraps.
