I have all this bread and I don't know what to do with it?!

Question:

I have all this bread and I don't know what to do with it?

My place of employment throws away a ton of bread every few days. I took a bag full of bread and unless I do something with it I'll end up throwing it away. It would be a shame to do that. Does anyone know any good recipes that would make good use of the bread? What about bread pudding? I made garlic bread but that gets old after a few days.

Answers: Chocolate Bread Pudding
1 loaf French or Italian bread, cut into cubes (about 15 cups)
3 cups milk
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup coffee flavored liqueur
1 cup sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons pure almond extract
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
6 eggs, lightly beaten
8 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
Lightly grease a 13 by 9-inch baking dish fill with bread cubes.

In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, cream, and liqueur. In another bowl, combine the granulated and brown sugars with the cocoa powder and mix well. Add the cocoa mixture to the milk mixture and whisk to combine.

In a medium bowl, add the vanilla extract, almond extract, and the cinnamon to the beaten eggs. Combine the egg mixture with the milk mixture and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread cubes; let stand, stirring occasionally, for at least 20 minutes, or until the bread has absorbed most of the milk mixture. Bake the pudding for 1 hour, or until set; a cake tester inserted into the center of the pudding should come out clean.

You could also make stuffing or croutons too! shelters and feed it to the ducks.
bread freezes you know. Why don't you make a bunch of croutons? They would store well and there is nothing better than fresh croutons.

I also love bruschetta and you only need tomatoes, olive oil and toast. Wow! What a waste! Where do you live? I'd like some free bread! Did you ever think to give it away to homeless shelters or check with local groups or communities that could use this bread? Check it out with your city! Good luck! you could also make homemade croutons. just cube the bread, a little olive oil, salt, pepper, and some herbs. also homemade stuffing. here's a great bread pudding recipe though:

Steve's Killer Bread Pudding

1 cup raisins
1/4 cup dark rum (recommended: Myers's)
1 1/2 loaves stale French or Italian bread, torn into pieces
3 cups milk
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup heavy cream or 1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
2 teaspoons lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon salt

Rum Sauce:
1 1/2 cups sugar
5 ounces evaporated milk
4 tablespoons margarine
1 egg, beaten
2 egg yolks, beaten
3 tablespoons dark rum (recommended: Myers's)

Place raisins in a small bowl with rum and soak for a couple of hours. Drain raisins and reserve soaking liquid.
Place bread pieces in a 9 by 12-inch baking dish. Add raisins to dish. In a large bowl, combine the milk, eggs, butter, cinnamon, vanilla, heavy cream, sugar, brown sugar, molasses, lemon zest, and salt, and mix well to ensure the sugar has been dissolved. Add the reserved raisin soaking liquid to the milk mixture and pour over bread. Let sit until bread has soaked up all of the milk mixture for at least 1 to 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Place baking dish in another large pan and add water about halfway up the sides of the baking dish. Bake for 1 hour or until bread pudding has set. Remove bread pudding from oven and let cool to just warm.

While bread pudding is cooling, make Rum Sauce:
Combine sugar, evaporated milk, margarine, egg and yolks in the top of a double boiler and cook, stirring well, until thick. Do not let sauce boil. Keep warm until serving time. Whisk in rum just before serving. Serve bread pudding with sauce. make croutons, and grilled cheese sandwiches, grilled ham and cheese, french toast, and they have a "breakfast casserole" that sounds really good that i wanna try on recipezaar.com website that uses lots of bread. it sounds awesome..go to the site for the recipe, the site is free! Some food pantries take bread and freeze it so when people come in to get food they have it.
Take it to church some of the people may want some. Some churches have food pantries, too.
Here there are free meals certain days of the weeks at churches and I'm sure they would take it if you offered it in your area, check on it. sandwiches, grilled cheese, tomato sandwiches, meat ball sub.
and if they get bad then go to the park and feed the ducks How about a huge batch of stuffing. Sautee some onions carrots, garlic, celery in lots of butter, added slightly dried bread, chopped up of course throw it in, mix well and bake until golden brown on top. I dont like bread pudding myself. Go feed some ducks somewhere with it. Have friends over for a french toast party!

Donate it to shelters, freeze it, give to friends & family. Wow, is your place of employment wasteful. While you could take some and make bread pudding, french toast, stuffing, sandwhiches and croutons until they come out of your ears, why not ask your company to make an in kind donation to your local food bank?? I believe they can get a tax deductible receipt (companys love that) and can help people in the process!
