Answers:

I would imagine that, in general, roadkill is going to taste better. But a lot depends on how fresh it is and whether the internal organs are still intact.

True story, I was in Switzerland a while back and went to lunch at a little restaurant in the countryside. The special of the day was venison, which I've always had a fondness for, so I went for it. The meal, consisting of a salad of fresh spring greens, haricort verts, new potatoes, spargel, and braised venison, was one of the best I've ever had. I asked the proprietor about the venison, which was tender, and sweet, and clearly not in season. He pulled me aside and explained that the deer was as fresh as it could possibly be...it turns out that his father in law had hit it on the road earlier that morning.

Had that thing just up and died, it would not have been as tasty.

So I've gotta go with roadkill.
