When you cook?

when you start bean they say the serving size is 1/4 cup before cooked, my question is when its done cooking how much does it become? how many calories is in 1 and 1/4 cooked beans?
and when you cook lots of beans in 1 spoonful of lard does alot of fat get added onto the beans nutrition
why do people cook them in lard

One cup of dry beans, depending on the variety, will produce 2-3 cups cooked. On average, depending on variety, one cup of beans has 225 calories. Lard/ Hog Fat is used for flavor enhancement. As for the nutritional value of Lard for "alot" of beans I'll leave the math up to you.
