How can I make beef jerky in my gas bbq?

any recipes or websites with info on how to would be great


Answers:

Your BBQ will need a temperature guage so you can keep the temperature at 145 to 160 degrees. Turn on one burner and keep the lid propped open a bit to keep the temp. low. Place the jerky meat over indirect heat.so have the burneron .... on the opposite side of where you put the meat.

Cut roast into 1/4" thick slices......marinade for 1/2 hour in..

1 C soy sauce
1/3 C brown sugar (or to taste)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp mesquite liquid smoke
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Squeeze excess marinade out of meat. Lay on racks.

It will take several hours. Check every hour to see if the meat is leathery but not too dry. If you have the temperature too high you will cook the meat and not dry it.
