This particular recipe was served in a bread roll with a sausage but something similar would be good.

Sounds like a German dish. Vinegar is used to keep the cabbage red. The cabbage can be fried with bacon(or bacon grease), onion, caraway seed. Add sugar and red wine vinegar to form a sweet and sour coating to the cabbage. It goes well with sausage on a roll( Hot dog).
