Good asian side dishes...?

so my friends and i do monthly lunches..where we cook and enjoy it. i was put in charge of side dishes and our theme is asian food. im at a loss for ideas and want to ask before hitting other websites...so are there any good recipes that are delicious and take less than a hour to make?

Benihana’s salad dressing

? cupchopped onion
? cupvegetable oil
2 tbsprice wine vinegar (rice vinegar can be used)
1 tbspwater
1 tbspchopped ginger root (fresh)
1 tbspchopped celery
1 tbspsoy sauce
1 ? tsptomato paste (yes this is necessary)
1 ? tspsugar
1 tsplemon juice (fresh)
? tspsalt

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Process until almost smooth (or smooth if you prefer). Any unused portion may be stored in a covered container in the refrigerator.
Can be frozen, but only for upto 3 months.

Fried Rice


2 ccooked rice (minute rice works) cook and refrigerate rice at least 24 hours before making

Make rice as directed, the night before and refrigerate.

2 eggs, beaten
1 tbspbutter
? tspsesame oil

Heat skillet, put 1 tbsp and ? tsp sesame oil into pan. Place eggs into pan and cook till done (don’t fluff eggs, should remain disc shaped for easier prep).

2 tbspcanola oil
2 tbsp butter
2 tspsesame oil
? conion, diced
? ccarrots & peas (from freezer section)
1 tbspginger, grated
8 green onions, diced
2 tbspgarlic, minced
3 tbspsoy sauce



Put oils into pan, heat to medium. Add ? cup of diced onion and sauté for about 5 to 10 minutes.

Add carrots and peas, and sauté until warm.

Turn temp to high and add ginger, green onion, garlic and soy sauce. Mix together.

Add cold rice, stir and mix until hot. Add cooked shrimp, chicken, beef or ham and the cooked eggs. Continue cooking until warm.

Sesame Shrimp Toast

8-10 ozs. Raw peeled shrimp, chopped
? tspgarlic, minced
? tspginger root, finely chopped
2 shallots
1egg, beaten
Salt and pepper
1 tbspcornstarch
In a bowl, mix shrimp, garlic, ginger, shallots, egg, salt, pepper and cornstarch. Chill for, at least, 2 hours.

1French baguette
3-4 tbspwhite sesame seeds
Oil for deep-frying


Cut the bread into ?” slices and spread thickly with shrimp mixture on on side, then press that side down onto the sesame seeds, making sure the seeds are firmly pressed into the shrimp mixture.

Heat the oil in a work or deep fryer to 350F and deep fry the toasts, in batches, spread-side down, 2-3 minutes until the start to turn golden brown around the edges. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.

Won Ton Soup

18 – 24 Won Ton Wrappers

Filling:
? lb. boneless lean pork, chopped finely
1 tbspsoy sauce
1 tbspoyster sauce
A few drops of sesame oil
1 tspsherry
? tspsugar
1green onion, finely minced
1 tspcornstarch
2 dasheswhite pepper

Other:
Water for boiling
4 ? - 5 cupsChicken stock
Green onions, thinkly sliced, as desired
A few drops sesame oil (optional)

Combine all the filling ingredients in a bowl, mixing well. Lay one won ton skin in front of you. Cover the remaining won ton skins with a damp towel to keep them from drying out. Moisten all the edges of the won ton wrapper with water. Place a heaping teaspoon of won ton filling in the center. Fold the won ton wrapper in half lengthwise, making sure the ends meet. Press down firmly on the ends to seal. Use thumbs to push down on the edges of the filling to center it. Keeping thumbs in place, fold over the won ton wrapper one more time. Push the corners up and hold in place between your thumb and index finger. Wet the corners with your fingers. Bring the two ends together so that they overlap. Press to seal. The finished product should resemble a nurse’s cap. Repeat with remaining won tons.

Boiling:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the won tons, making sure there is enough room for them to move about freely. Let the won tons boil for 5-8 minutes, until the rise to the top and the filling is cooked through. Remove from the pot with a slotted spoon.

Soup:
Bring the chicken stock to a boil. Add the won tons and bring back to a boil. Add the green onion, remove the pot from the heat and add the sesame oil (if desired. Ladle into soup bowl.
