First...it starts at 7:30 what is a good end time? What adult party was fun that you went to and what made it fun??
Answers: Music will definitely set the tone. There should be substantial food since the party starts at 7:30. People will expect to eat a meal or snacks significant enough to fill them up.
Another fun thing...
There is a book called The Book of Questions. I would cut the pages out and put them in different little bowls around the party area. Huge conversation generators. They have several books in the series (dealing with morals, sex, etc.). Questions like "how much money would it take to get you to pull the wings off of a butterfly?" or "Would you be angry if your sibling married your ex lover? If so, how long would you stay angry?"
It's really fun to see how passionate people get over issues that they may never have thought about before. A real conversation generator. I'm not sure if I would o this if my boss or in-laws were going to be there - select the questions carefully!
Have fun - a relaxed host is probably the most imortant factor of a fun party! I would let the party go until people want to leave.
Put on some music & play some card games, Scattergories, Taboo, Yahtzee, UNO. There are also some great novelty games like Sexual Secrets & some others, but that depends on the nature of the crowd. (You can also make Scattergories more Xrated if you wished)
what makes a party great are options of things to do, some casual drinks, and good conversation. get people to vote on what to do next. sometimes just sitting around the table talking is nice. 11-ish is a good end time, although be prepared for it to go longer or shorter pull out monopoly. Don't set an end time. When ppl are ready to go then they will go. Or when you are ready to kick them out then so be it. Definitely play monopoly. That is totally become way cool around here. Something unexpected too. A good time for it to end would be 11PM, since its an adult party. The last adult party that I went to was my friends' birthday party. We ate, had a few drinks, danced and laughed (alot!)
