hi i just got a fondue pot and would like to know what kind of cheese is good for dipping and what kind of dippers thank you..


Answers: Most fondue cheeses are soft but you also need to add alcohol to the pot to allow the cheese to be "fluid"... There is a good fondue sauce in most grocery stores which is made by a swiss company. I'd try that. You can also use like a broth and raw meat/veggies -- you allow the broth to be boiling and you have really thin sliced meats/veggies and you dip it into the "sauce" until it's cooked -- yummy no american long horn is delicous. you can get it from any of at your local grocery store use your imagination. you can use alot of different cheeses and can dip just about anything you like I like Swiss cheese best. Rub the pot with garlic clove, heat white wine almost to boiling, melt cheese into wine (DONT BOIL), sprinkle with a bit of nutmeg.

Dip crusty bread, raw broccoli, raw cauliflower, carrot sticks.

Bert I used to work in a deli and fancy myself a turophile. Havarti is wonderful. Italian Fontina is one of my favorites. Port Salute. Brie. There are so many choices, have fun and good luck! Dippers can be crisp green apple slices, breads, raw veggies. There are so many cheeses you can use, it is easier to send you to a site that has almost 50 different recipes for cheese fondue.
