Answers: That is so cool!!!!
seriously having a parent graduate college is a privilege!

well seriously mmmm you can talk to your mom and having something super special!!

for example.... I usted to work at the community college and when we had people from our depeartment graduate we would try and surprise them with something unique and special....
one of the times we made a cocktail.... nothing to fancy but yet unique.... we decorated with white roses in vases filled with ice.... we placed them all over the place.... we also print out some pictures in black and white of peoples special moments.... we had them bring some pictures of their family.... wedding.... when they were a child..... etc... and place them in silver picture frames so people can see special moments.....

we made alot of different appetizers... like ham with cheese... crackers with cream cheese and tomatoe.... veggie trays....stawberries with chocolate.....

and well you can make a delicious dinner!

i mean it has to be something special because its a special moment in your dad's life and well not all parents have the previlage to finish college!

as a gift well it would all depend on what is his career about... it can be a silver pen with his name..... it can be a dinner for 2 for your mom and him....
etc.... be creative.... you can also.... ask your mom for opinions... what would he like.... clean his car and make it smell super good.... something that you know he can appreciate and take with him!

Whatever you do he will love it!
Good luck and I hope everything comes out good!! Try and let your mom handle it, but in the mean-time...

Maybe you should get him something related to his studies. If he's an astronomer, get him a telescope, if he's a teacher, get him Asprin. ahaha. But be creative. Maybe a gift card to his favorite book store?
You can throw him a mini-party. With a few of his old friends, family, and yourselves.
