Birthday party picnic menu ideas? Decorating the table ideas?!

Question:

Birthday party picnic menu ideas? Decorating the table ideas?

My daughter is going to be two and we're having a family picnic for her next weekend. It's a small group, but I'm hoping to make it fun for all. The one thing I'm set on making is a vegatarian chili (Mother-in-Law is vegatarian). I'll probably do some hotdogs for the kids.

I would love some fun and somewhat easy menu ideas. By easy, I mean that I won't be preparing for hours. An hour or two total is great for food. I'd love to cook on the grill and we also have a crock pot.

I would like ideas for a couple appetizers and the meal itself. We'll have a birthday cake, so that's taken care of.

We will be moving our dining room table out to the back porch for the meal and my daughter picked Elmo plates. Any cute decorating ideas?

Thank you! I'm bored of the usual "picnic" fare after all those summer picnics! I want something fun!

Answers: Mini hands love mini food. Cut sandwiches into fun shapes using cookie cutters, and make mini burgers and bagel pizzas. (don't forget what yr daughter favorite)

For dessert, dress up your cupcakes with food coloring. Sassy colors turn plain vanilla cupcakes into a fun-colored treat. Serve mini ice cream sundaes in plastic cups to control portion size and keep spills to a minimum.

the basics: streamers, balloons and matching tablecloths, plates and napkins. Now make it your own with paper lanterns, scented candles and a bold color scheme in your favorite colors and patterns, like polka dots, snake skin, shimmering stars.

enjoy birthday party picnic style I make this recipe at every family event and people love it. It's sort of like Cracker Barrel's Hashbrown stuff, but better. My son just turned 2 last week and we have a big party, about 25 people and I mad ea huge aluminum pan of this the night before, then refrigerated it, baked it for 1.5 hours the next day, party day. Do the topping right before you pop it in the over. Bake this for the party and then keep it warm in a cooler and put it in the grill to keep it hot at the party:

4 pounds frozen shredded hashbrowns
1 tub sour cream
4 cans cream of chicken condensed soup
2 bags shredded cheese (colby-jack or all cheddar)
1 good sized onion minced finely

Topping: (trust me, it sounds odd, but this is what makes the casserole)
4 cups frosted flakes cereal
2 sticks of butter, melted

Mix all the ingredients (keep those hashbrowns frozen) besides topping, spread in a greased xtra large foil pan. Cover and refrigerate until ready to bake.
When ready to bake, melt the butter in the microwave, stir in the frosted flakes until coated, and pour evenly over casserole.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour or 1.5 hours, just watch it. Wait until flakes are browned and bubbling. It will take all of an hour at the least.

It's the most delicious thing ever.
