Good ideas for a party (when I get into my house)?!

Question:

Good ideas for a party (when I get into my house)?

(Yeah, yeah, I know, it isn't so much about food and drink, but it is about Entertaining! Couldn't find a good catergory!)

Okay, so I am going to be moving into my house in like a month. I want to give myself about a month to get things all in order, but then I want to have a party.

I am trying to think of some good ideas of what we could actually do besides just eating goodies and stuff.

Here are the restrictions:
-Most of my friends don't drink alcohol, so I don't want to have any at this party
-I don't have a big TV -- nor do I have satellite or anything, so we can't watch anything that is on tv like sports or something

I think it would be nice to just have some good, clean fun, but I don't want everyone to get bored either. So, I need some good ideas of funny games or something like that.

Any ideas will be appreciated, but keep in mind, this is not a drunken party, just a bunch of people hanging out and munching on goodies and having a few laughs.

Thanks.

Answers: After you give everyone a tour of the house, bring everyone back to the party room and have fun.

First of all, provide bowls of munchies around and have some appetizers on the coffee table. Have everyone bring something cold, you have hot appetizers like these:

1. Mini eggrolls sith duck sauce on the side

2. Get 1/2 pound corned beef and swiss at the deli, a cocktail rye bread loaf, 1000 island dressing and a small can of saurkraut. Cut meat and cheese in small pieces then
drain saurkraut and cut it up, combining meat and cheese with saurkraut and dressing. Scoop a little of this mixture on each piece of rye bread and put them on a cookie sheet. Bake 425 for 30 minutes for mini reubens.

3. Tomato sauce, pepperoni and mozzarella cheese on bagel halves for mini pizzas

4. Tortilla chips and salsa with sharp cheddar heated at 450 for 15 minutes for nachos

Cheese Fondue: 1TBSP butter and 1 TBSP flour heated for a roux. Add 2 cups of dry white wine and 2 TBSP Kirschwasser. Heat through then add a pound of grated gruyere and 1/4 pound grated Ementhaler cheese. Also add a cup of grated lorraine swiss cheese. This is fantastic served with french bread for dipping.

Once everyone is comfortable with a beverage and some appetizers, have everyone split into two teams if up to 5 people and teams of 4 or 5 if the number is larger.

GAMES

For each person coming to the party, make a name badge that has the name of a famous person, living or dead. As each person arrives, you place the badge on their back. Each person has to go around the room, mingling with others. Instruct guests to go around looking at each other's badges. Now as guests continue talking, they ask questions about the name on their badge. Must be yes/no questions. Try to be sure you only include names that everyone would know. As guests ask questions, they will figure out the name and when they guess right, the badge is taken from their back. If a guest can't figure it out, players then give clues that progressively point to the identity. Gets people who may not know each other a chance to mingle.

Scattergories
On the left side of a page make a list of 10 - 12 catergories and make 5 columns. Catergories could be:
US CITIES
EUROPEAN CAPITOLS
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
ICE CREAM FLAVORS
MOVIE STARS
IN THE MEDICINE CABINET
SEASONINGS, SPICES, HERBS
LANGUAGES
ANIMALS AT THE ZOO
MAGAZINE TITLES
BOY NAMES
GIRL NAMES
Have guests write a 5 letter word across the top (like BEGIN) and have guests write a word for each letter that fits each catergory. The one who can fill in the most answers for each letter wins that letter.

Treasure Hunt (do this first instead of a tour)
Before guests arrive, write clues to a treasure hunt and hide them throughout the house. Guests on different teams move from room to room and get to see your whole house. Then the first clue for each team is read and they decide together where they must go and find other clues. Until they find the treasure which is a picnic basket full of treats for everyone.

Hope these ideas help you. Have fun and good luck! You can try buying some board games like:
-Pictionary
-Cranium
-Uno Attack (is a fun game game to play with family and friends)
- Family Feud
-Rent movies I'm sorry that I don't have any good suggestions for a party, but I do have ideas for rephraising this question.

The reason why you dont have many answers is that the question is REALLY long..people would rather read a shortened version..so here goes.

I'm moving into my house in about a month and I'm going to have a party once I move in. I need ideas for activities other than just eating.
There can't be any alcohol because the people coming aren't drinkers. My TV is small so we can't use that. We want to have good, clean fun but don't want to be bored! I need ideas for games, etc. that XXXX year olds would like.

Reember--no drinking! Thanks everyone! if you do have a TV you could watch movies,

make it a housewarming with gifts or stories about owning a home(lots of laughs and tears).

how big is the yard? i mean i have grilled in December.

get board games.

just make sure you have plenty of food and drink( it can be non-alcoholic).
