Backyard Scavenger Hunt For Kids?!

Question:

Backyard Scavenger Hunt For Kids?

My fiance and I are having a housewarming/engagment party in 3 weeks. I want to let everyone bring there kids, and I want to have something special for the kids to do. I was thinking of doing a scavenger hunt in our back yard while everyone is out there. I have only thought of a few things, so I would love a few tips! FYI, the kids are between 3-8, I was thinking of pairing them up so the little ones can get help. The things I thought of were: A coin from the year you were born, a y-shaped twig, an acorn, a band-aid, a pictures of a baby, something Red Sox, (we're in RI) and a flower. Any more tips? They will be allowed in the house also.

Answers: It sounds like you have it pretty well planned.
I love kid games.
When my kids were small I would sometimes take a roll of coins.. usually nickels, and drop them in the grass to find.
It would keep them busy for hours. For a party quarters may be a better idea.

The Halloween toys are a great idea, or even party favor birthday stuff...

You could also do a hide and seek with objects after the scavenger hunt.. For example someone hide the picture and all the kids get to hunt for it. a scavenger hunt is a great idea, but it might be a little hard for you to find a coin with the year they were born, and it could be confusing if they are partners becase they wont know whose birth year to look for on the coins.

good luck halloween is coming up soon so u could hide halloween items Sounds like u have it planned out pretty good. Have fun! my daughter and I did these over the summer just the 2 of us..some of the things we looked for was ...someone w/sunglasses,a certain colored car, pinecone,a bike, find anything that starts with the letter _,etc. etc.
Hope these helped
Have fun
