Is it over-indulgent to have a 3 or more course meal?!
Is it over-indulgent to have a 3 or more course meal?
It's done so often, yet seems so "naughty" ha.
Answers: Appetizer, soup, salad, main course, desert. Cheese and fruit. Coffee and brandy. I would not do it often but occasionally it's fine. Well it depends. If you go to a nice restaurant and choose quality as opposed to quantity, it's not that decadent.
You can have a three course meal with small potions and much nicer food than a one course meal that's an enormous portion but not very good.
Think about how the French or Italians eat. Granted we are a country that for the most part has plenty of food while others do not but I don't think I would consider a 3 course meal "naughty". A common meal at home may well have 3 or more courses. A soup or salad, entree with vegetables and dessert and you have 3 courses. Dining out with an appetitizer, soup, salad, entree and dessert you have 5 courses. Once you go past that and add a pasta course and/or fish course then you are starting to get to the more fancy type dining which could be considered over-indulgent. However, is should be noted that 7 course meals can be quite common in other cultures. As we all know American are getting heavier and heavier. So of course we want more food. The more food the merrier. A three course meal keeps the person wondering what the next course will be. I do not find it naughty. I think guest would enjoy a three course meal. It is not something that people have often now days. I think a 3 course meal is de rigueur. Salad + entree w/ veggies + fruit/fruit dessert. It is not the number of courses that is decadent, it is the size of the portions that is "naughty".
