Chocolate chip cookies or apple pie?
I am having an aquaintance from Ghana staying with me for a while and when he comes i would like to have something all-american and homemade for him. What do you think-Chocolate chip cookies or apple pie??
Also, I want to get him afew small welcome gifts. I was thinking about a phone card so he can call home, but I can't think of anything else. Any ideas would be helpful!
Answers: Have chocolate chip cookies as well as apple pie, give him a variety of choices.
A phone card would be nice, and perhaps a t-shift with your home town or one of his favorite American sports teams would be cool too.
A gift bag full of various toiletries and personal hygiene products may be useful as well.

Well,I would have to say apple pie because apple pie is considered the all american dessert. I would offer him a nice warm slice of apple pie and offer to put either a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top,or some cool-whip,I bet he would really like that! ;-)
I would get him some phone cards so he can call home and maybe an inexpensive digital camera so he can take pictures of America and send it back to his family in Ghana. the chocolate chip cookies sound nice, as for a gift i would say: a nice shirt maybe or welcome sign that really makes him feel at ease and home sweet home. as for the gift, something that your place is known for. If you can't do both, I would do the cookies. Else, you say he's staying with you for a while, why not see if he might like to help you make an apple pie? I agree that gifts from the local sports team or the city you live in would be good. I wouldn't go too far beyond that. He may feel indebted to you. I would bring Apple Pie and I would make it home made along with Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, that way you have the best of both foods. i like them both but apple pie APPLE PIE ALL THE WAY !!
