Answers: What a sweet little darling you are!
Don't have the party at her restaurant, as I see it, it would be added expense on a day she would normally be closed. So, call banquet halls for pricing if there are lots (20+) of people who know your mom personally. Otherwise, a reservation at a restaurant (required for parties of 8-20 people at most places with 18% gratuity added to the final bill automatically) would be sufficient. Hopefully you can afford this on your own, because I don't think your mother would feel very honored if her child went into debt to give her a party. You can ask some VERY close friends or relatives to help with the expenses and decisions of what to do. If you know how to do a powerpoint presentation on your computer, have some pictures of your mom fading in and out on a big screen with a special song that reminds you of her. I love "All Star" by Smashmouth, it seems to convey that against the odds, not only can you achieve it, but become an all star! Keep it upbeat for the song or it could seem like a powerpoint presentation for a funeral.
Have some fun, easy music to dance to, remember your celebrating your mom! Dance is the best way to celebrate, and you can even look for a dance instructor to lead everyone in some simple line dance moves or even some easy jitterbug swing dance moves. People will enjoy celebrating your mom, and when all is said and done, walk away with something special (learned how to dance a little!)

If your having it at a restaurant; see about pre-ordering the meal, you may get a break on bulk, plus then everyone doesn't have to decide over a WHOLE menu. Also, many local deli's do catering, call around for what they can offer. Source(s):
just some ideas, you're a darling to your mother...if even this is just a thought and you can't make it happen.
