I am planning a 50th Birthday party for my dad. Help!?!

Question:

I am planning a 50th Birthday party for my dad. Help!?

I am planning on inviting about 15 or so people to my house for the party. Any ideas/suggestions on food I should serve and entertainment? I would love to have a theme and stick w/ it. I was thinking of doing a "grim reaper" party and serving "Witch's Brew" in a cauldron w/ dry ice, etc. I would LOVE your suggestions!

Answers: I am 70 so I know what I am talking about, whatever you decide to do for your dad, do not make him feel old or "over the hill". People who turn 40 and 50 really DO feel as if their lives are over. They no longer feel attractive.

By the way, when a person gets into their 60s and 70s, the age thing no longer bothers them. :o)

Love the Halloween themes. How about having people come in costumes.

You can get trays of finger foods and deserts from your supermarket's deli . They also do cakes in the bakery section. Be sure to order ahead of time.

Fill a punch bowl or two with chilled Virgin Bloody Mary mix. It's red. Nice and spicy. This can be bought in large supermarkets or liquor stores and is non-alcoholic.

Have fun! Happy Birthday to your dad. u do that they love like you make the party like hotel serve food and make your dad birthday like they are child like cake and glitter in ballons and when they burn the ballon it throw glitter You could and with halloween you can find cool scary/creepy recipes. Go for it... Time of the party, place of the party, theme of the party, food - wine, music, lighting etc. are important factors in any party. Depending on your budget and resources and liking etc. you should decide these things. You must keep in mind the likes and dis-likes of the birth-day boy also. Some return-gifts are a must. Get some good photographer / videographer to shoot the momorable moments. Plan the party in some garden or at a picnick spot where all will enjoy nature's beauty and fresh air. You can have a night-by-fire party or a pool-side party as well. Be careful in selecting gift for your father.... a wooden cradle chair would be an ideal gift. does any body mind dressing up. Make it in too an all like custome theam using the grimrepper and headstones almost as a scary kind of haunted party but with a funny twist. If your father has a sence of humor. have a purple lite and things that are black and white to glow in the dark but also have his kind of music he likes in the back ground. But maybe also get everyone to dress up like they are old or you know what i am trying to say. So everyone can make him laugh. I guess. I had a party for my moms 22 aniversery of her new kidney transplant years ago and I had all her friends and family write about a situation that happen in there lifes together and they had to read them out loud at the party. She died but I have all of what everyone brought still and It looks back on her child hood her teenage yours and when she had me and my brother. Good luck Don't do that. Turning fifty is not a time to remind him that his days are numbered. He's turning fifty, have a 50's Rock and Roll party. Party City has all kinds of decorations you could use for this theme. I'll give you a site that has some more ideas for this idea,. Serve " Diner " food and drinks in Coca Cola glasses ( you can get them at the Dollar Tree store ) You can find recipe ideas on line for 50's food, if you don't know what was served. For dessert, you must serve pineapple-upside-down cake that was all the rage. Wish him a Happy Birthday for me.
