what i would do is make a big pot of chili with corn bread. and then get some crossiants dough wrap them around a hotdog and put them in the oven for 15 mins kids love them chips sodas and you can make club crakers with this dip all u need is cream cheese copped up ham (sandwhich ham) and chopped up chives or green onions and mix it together . not that bad on your pocket great food and easy to do if you dont have a recipe for chili email me i make the best chili in town and it is so easy good luck
a few bags of chip, some dip
pizza sounds good.....and maybe fries.....teens like hands on food....no fork or knife...
play it cool, talk it over with your daughter, explain the budget pizza's good, sandwiches, cola, ect a nice idea for a sweet instead of a cake is a chocolate fountain, everyone has them these days you could borrow 1 from someone, dont make to much food most of it will end up in the bin. best place for party food on a budget is ice land frozen food centre.
I'm a sixteen year old girl myself, and for my 16th birthday we had a really inexpensive idea: make a 'red carpet' themed party with a long roll of red paper leading up the door. We also had a gift swap, where everyone picked a number out of a hat, and every guest brought in a present that was assigned for a number and it was given out to another guest at the party and they could either keep the gift for themselves or trade it with another guest. It was a really fun occasion where everyone dressed up and we'll never forget it.

Usually a movie or dance dance revolution (a video game for ps2) to keep a smaller party entertained, and yes, all my friends enjoy pizza! :D At a bigger partly like yours, however, most would just want to talk and hang out instead of doing a lot of games. Some good games that would involve large parties could have flashlight tag, scavenger hunt, or 'would you rather?' But for many teens, parties aren't really about celebration, they're about talking and hanging out with their friends.

A couple of snacks such a popcorn and chips and dip are also fairly good choices. Personally I don't care about decorations and I don't pay very much attention to them (I just talk to my friends), usually tying balloons to chairs for the birthday girl would be a good idea. And of course don't forget the birthday cake.
Before wasting time and money I would hint as to see if your 16 yr old wants one. Personally, for me, a party from my mom at that age would be really lame - they are 16 after all, not 12.

When I was 16 I wanted stuff and to be away from my parents, this was particularly vital given that my friends could drive and we were able to go places on our own.

How about just using a portion of the money for a nice gift they can go out with their friends and use? I hated when my mom chose stuff for me at that age so a mall gift certificate would be ideal. This way they can go out with their friends, in their atmosphere and have fun shopping for things they want. It will be more special for them this way. Also, they would like something with you but how about making it just family? Like a cake after dinner with the fam? This will let them know you accounted for them on both fronts: outside and home.
Pizza, chips, dip, pretzels, and soda - and the kids will be all set for food. Maybe rent a Wii for the kids to play, or rent horror movies. Thats about all teens need.
To make it really easy on yourself try buying premade food. Usually its best to buy in bulk stores such as Costco or Sam's Club.
