Mafia theme for a 21st...please help?!

Question: ok, so my cousin and i are working on this together (it's for my brother's 21st). and we both thought of a mafia/20's theme. could anyone please give me ideas for for what to do...if you have any websites, that will be even better. obviously we'll know what people should wear, what music to play. but i'd like other ideas too.

thanks a lot

In case you need costumes, Oriental trading company has cute outfits for men and women in mafia style. Definately serve Italian or Sicilian foods, wine (or grape juice for non drinkers), Have the bar set up in a speak-easy type setting. Casino tables (no cash betting), Jazz music, if you have talented friends, have them do a Chicago-style Happy Birthday song/dance. Teach the guests the Charleston and have fun with it. Also check out this site with outrageously fun ideas. Gosh it sounds like fun!

edit- Oh cool to have it at a restaurant! IF at all possible you could ask management to set up a speak easy or if you can set one up for yourself. Yay!
Music wise I'd go for a mixture of music to shake things up a bit...what about starting with classical Italian music? Have you seen the godfather trilogy? The music from that maybe the type of thing you're looking for.

As for food...I'm thinking Italian food that you can make as canapes that are easy to eat e.g. small meatballs on cocktail sticks rather than spagetti and meatballs. Serve them on black and white dishes.

Go for classic decoration-like black and white tablecloths. Grouping a load of candles together has a dramatic and superb effect...plus its not that expensive either.

Good Luck!
I would go family style Italian Resturant if you can. That would help with food cost and is very authentic. You could also play the soundtrack to the Godfather in the background for music.

You could set up some gaming tables (some resturants have these already, just ask) to do some fake gambling (it would probably be illegal to do real). Also, you could have guests bring a bottle of their favorite "bootleg" booze as a gift for your cousin. Nothing like starting off at 21 with a fully stocked liquor cabinet! You can have the bakery make you a bday cake in the shape of a gun and the candles can be those crazy ones that make a lot of noise and throw off sparks. You also could have one of those new ice cream bombe cakes made. They are really cool.

Have fun sounds like a good time!
I don't have any other ideas than have already been listed but I think this is a great theme for a 21st birthday party! I hope he has a great time.
Mafia party? Insulting to Sicilians. Shame on you.
find old bogart movies and get the music from them also try the older mafia movies.
