Ideas for nibbles for having friends over?!

Question: Hiya I am having some friends over on saturday night for drinks, nibbles and a film or something. So far for ideas I'm thinking about doing garlic pitta bread toasts with a yoghurt and mint dip, and something like chocolate cornflake cakes!!Do you have any ideas for some tasty things to make that people would like?Time and skill aren't a problem but i would like to keep it relatively cheap.

i wouldnt do anything too eccentric. If theyre like me, they may be somewhat picky. So always have a fallback plan for them. Even if its just chips and salsa, or something along those lines.

But if all else, try endive spears with a nice dip.
crudites (cucumber, carrot, celery with a creme fraiche dip)
nachos with salsa and guacamole
mini vol au vents with chicken and mushroom
puff pastry is your friend! LOL

scrolls (fill with whatever, roll up, slice and bake)
mini pizzas
cheese straws
palmiers (sweet or savory)

I always keep some handy just for when people drop over
Nuts, crisps, dips, breadstix.
I love nachos!!! can make them nice and cheap and make some guacamole and some salsa and ask your friends to bring th tequila!!!
Ciabatta bread dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil mixed together, goes down really well with my friends!
Rice crispy squares are goo and you can make them chocolatey too, the recipie is simple and you can find it really easily all over the internet:

You can always make you own little pizza's with french bread, salsa and cheese, very ease but very effective. But enough of what i'm having for dinner...back to your party...!
hi, all my friends seem to like very much this: just toast some bread, cut it in small peaces and then put mozzarella cheese on each , and bit of tomato, pepper, grill it then, and it taste very nice.
Spicy Chilli Nobbys Nuts!!
The home made bruchetta on Nigella Express the other day!

Toast some thick bread slices, Avocado on one, mashed chick peas and olive oil on another, chopped fresh tomatoes and basil on the third. Quick easy, cheap and tasty.

Then get stuck into the vino for gawd sake!
why not try making your own sushi its quite cheap if you use tinned tuna and the nori seaweed rolls are cheap and available in all supermarkets and specialist asian shops its alot easier than you think and with a wasabi dip its gorgeous and your friends will be very impressed you could always get a bottle of saki as well for a nice change hope you try it and have a good night whatever you decide to do x
order a couple of subs cut them up and have a sub tray
chocolate covered strawberries
mini tacos
pigs in a blanket
cheese and crackers
fruit tray
sweet meat balls
peel and eat shrimp
A really popular nibble at parties I've found is to fry some rashers of bacon, not too crisp, and then cut them in half and wrap them around dried dates. It's best to get dates without the stone, so you can then skewer a cocktail stick through it all to stop them from unwrapping, and to make them easy for your guests to pick up without getting greasy fingers.
Another with a similar idea is to cut strips of Parma ham or Spanish serrano ham, and wrap them around cubes of cheese (I'd recommend a good mature cheddar, but that's just out of personal preference), and once again, skewer with a cocktail stick.

I hope you like my ideas, but most of all, I hope you and your guests enjoy a wonderful evening!
hommous and sliced raw vegetables. A selection of cheeses and crackers with some grapes or chunks of apple. Cold rice or pasta salad with a homemade dressing.
a small selction of cheese always goes down well.
olives.
bread and olive oil or vinagerette to dip in.
breadsticks and dip. Homemade guacamole is relly easy to make (half a jar of salsa, 2 muched up avocados, some salt, 1 clove crushed garlilc and juice of half a lime).
In the main supermarkets just now they are filling their freezers with the party boxes - they are £10 a box and they are nibbly things like a Chinese box or an English box, also the Indian nibbles, and just one box goes a long way - they are worth the money and you only have to put them in the oven.

Just a thought and hope you enjoy your evening.....xxx
