cream cheese frosting or
whipped cream and a chocolate drizzle

Cream cheese frosting. Yum Yum Good!!

i use cool whip. goes great with the chocolate and strawberries.

Chocolate, of course! :)

A nice cream cheese frosting would go well with Chocolate and Strawberries....

Yummm...can I come? I would think a chocolate ganache would be "to die for" with chocolate cake and strawberries!
It's too long to cut and paste, but there's a recipe and instructions to cover a cake here: http://www.joyofbaking.com/ganache.html

This would be DREAMY for your cake with strawberries. It's a whipped cream frosting. Then---Pour the chocolate glaze over the strawberries on top and garnish with some whole strawberries for a finishing touch. If you really want to score mega points....do the following by splitting the cake into four rounds and spread the following ganache filling as directed. It's all here below. Or you can pick and choose from the following and tailor it to what YOU want to accomplish. Less can always be more ! :o) (The cake recipe is also found in the link below - all from Food Network.)

GANACHE FILLING:

8 ounces semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
1 cup heavy cream

Put the chocolate in a medium bowl. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream just to the boil. Remove from heat. Pour over chocolate and whisk until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth and shiny.

ASSEMBLING THE DESSERT:

Split each layer of cake in half horizontally and place one layer, cut side up, on a cardboard round. Spread with one-third of the ganache filling. Center a second layer on top of the first, and spread it with one-third of the ganache filling. Place another layer, cut side up, on top, and spread with remaining filling and turn he last layer upside down, and center it over the filling.

FROSTING AND CHOCOLATE GLAZE
1 cup heavy cream, whipped
10 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
1 cup heavy cream

Frost the cake with the whipped cream. Place the cake on a wire rack, then set it on a sheet pan that will fit the dimensions of your freezer. Place in the freezer for 40 minutes only, (this is just enough time to chill the whipped cream frosting so it's firm to the touch, not soft.) While the cake is in the freezer, prepare the dark chocolate glaze. Put the chocolate in a medium bowl. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream just to the boil. Remove from heat. Pour over chocolate and whisk until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth and shiny. Set aside to cool to body temperature.

Set the cake on its wire rack over a baking pan with sides (like a jelly roll pan) on top of a turntable (or lazy susan.) Pour almost all of the chocolate glaze over the center of the cake. Using a long, flexible metal icing spatula, use just a few strokes to spread the glaze over the top of the cake so the glaze runs down over the sides. Rotate the turntable as you spread. Use the spatula to scoop up excess glaze to touch it to any bare spots on the sides of the cake to cover them. Place the cake on a serving plate. Refrigerate until 30 to 60 minutes before serving. Using a serrated knife, dipped into hot water after each slice, cut dessert into wedges.

Cool whip, and in keeping with the chocolate theme use the chocolate cool whip. Maybe some chocolate shavings too.

Cream cheese frosting is a great icing for cake. If you don't like cream cheese frosting or have an allergy vanilla is very similar to cream cheese frosting. Yum!

Either home made cream cheese frosting or Betty Crocker White Whipped frosting. I think chocolate frosting would be too much.

A cream cheese frosting thats been whipped to make it lighter and fluffier would be great. Or refridgerate the cake for a bit and drizzle with with chocolate ice cream shell sauce.

please send that recipe, and i will try all kinds of toppings. mliv3460@yahoo.com
will send my fav. 2 toppings after trying several of mine own.of course 1 cake at a time...please...

THIS is FAB! Get a large tub of Vanilla flavored whipped cream. Use 3/4 brick Cream cheese softened....after softened, put in whipped cream, 1 tsp almond flavoring, 1/4 cup powdered sugar.
* Whip together in a blender. put in fridge-let sit 40 minutes.
Do not stir in this with your icing.....this is to make chocolate curls for the top...get a cheese slicer and cut "curls". put on top of cake.....you can also do a Ganache. The recipe is on the net...>and put this ganache between the layers of your cake. ALSO-If you have 2 cake rounds, cut them in half to make your cake more decadent and flavorful......if you have two cakes> cut each in half with a bread knife.

**Buy large Hershey Symphony chocolate bar, melt in a glass bowl in microwave 35 secs til melted. Spoon on cookie sheet covered with wax paper...spread out 1/4 " thin . let set in frig.**Use cheese slicer- and make curls...I think I repeated myself?? LOL! Anyway-do this-and the cake will be gorgeous and taste wonderful.

**Here's a cheap but ELEGANT thing.
Do chocolate cupcakes, in muffin tins, spray with non-stick,flour.
When done-COOL-cut in half-pour ganache over bottom, then place the top on, pour ganache over...top w/white chocolate shavings, and a small cut of fruit...a blueberry or half cherry is elegant. even a small cut of kiwi, or pomegranite insides.
Do these-and you will be a hit! AND it's easy, cheap>but noone will know.

Amaretto Mousse

chocolate fudge
