Alternatives to birthday cake?!
Answers: I am throwing a huge outdoor(Texas) bday bash for my husband(100+) and will have an assortment of food/desserts there. My issue is that husband does not like cake, but I want to have something that is just his....does anyone have any alternatives to cake? He does like cheesecake, so maybe that?? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

birthday pudding?
Pie, everybody likes pie!
just put what he likes i mean come on he doesn't like cake put cheese cake then for him and regular cake for the rest of the guests just do what you think he would like.
cheese cake would be fine.
A big cookie with happy birthday ------------ written on it. You can get this at cookie specality shops
Cheesecake is a great idea. I had an awesome cherry one for my birthday. Strawberry shortcake is good too as are pies (fruit, Boston Creme...)
You can do him a small layered cheesecake. Put frosting around the edges and write something on it personal from you to him. Do it in his favorite colors and even favorite flavor. It will work out great and he will love it. Good luck and with your hubby happy birthday.
You could try some of these ideas.....good luck with the party and have fun!
* Pies
* Cookies
* Ice cream
* Muffins
Just because you're not serving birthday cake doesn't mean that you can't decorate your dessert. Make cookies extra large and decorate them if you'd like. Or make muffins and put a candle in the birthday child's muffin. You can decorate the top crust of a pie by cutting out small shapes and overlaying them on other areas of the crust.
How about pie? You can decorate it too.
I put some candles on a fried big chicken for my dad's bday last year! He liked the idea
If he likes cheesecake - go with the cheesecake. He's the birthday boy!
Cheesecake --- make mini ones (like cupcakes)
Pie
Donuts
Tiramasu - there are quick and easy ways to make this stuff... just type "tiramasu" into your search engine.
Cannollis!
An ice cream cake
CHEESECAKE!
Check out Eli's Cheesecake online. They have personalized cheesecakes. I ordered one once and it came perfectly delish. It ended up being pretty expensive for a cheesecake but totally worth it.
Cut a watermelon slice right down the middle halfways.
Carve away the rind and you've got a "cake" of melon.
Now spread it with cool whip or whipped cream thickened with powdered sugar (you'll have start on top and work your way down the sides). Stick a candle in it, maybe a few fresh edible flowers or mint sprigs.
You can even "spice" it up with vodka if you'd like. Enjoy and have fun at the party.
Banana Pudding is a good alternative!
We always had to make my brother a big Banana Pudding because he doesn't care for cake.
It's so easy too.
Layer like this
Nilla Wafers
Bananas
Vanilla (or banana) pudding
Cool-whip
Layer 2 or 3 times depending on how deep your dish is.
I always decorate the top with additional Nilla Wafers and maraschino cherries.
But if he likes cheesecake, I'd just go with that!!
They have tonnns of different flavors of cheesecakes.
Most grocery stores or bakery's will sell you a variety of slices.
ice cream ,fruit triffle.
Ok since he likes cheesecake try a trifle bowl...It's like a large parfait.
get a large clear bowl and fill with layers of cheesecake filling, fruit, graham crackers and even whipped creme to your liking.
Serve that to him with candles on top-- have everyone sing and he blow out candles and serve it up same as you would a birthday cake.
*MY sweety doesn't ever want cake, but does frequently ask for angel food cake! Maybe have the cake and dishes of strawberries, blueberries or raspberries so the cake can be garnished with the fruit & possibly a spoonful of coolwhip*
Since you are going to have a variety of desserts I am sure that you will have some form of cake for those guests who pretty much expect it at a birthday party but for your husband I would suggest you make his favourite dessert whatever it is and decorate it with candles or sparklers or icing as appropriate for the picture moment.
