Is brunch appropriate?!

Question: I will be having my sons baptism in 6 weeks. We are having a party afterwards at a local restaurant. One option for the party is a brunch menu. The party will probably be around 2 PM. Is it appropriate to do a brunch at that time and for this type of even?

Brunch isn't appropriate at 2 pm. Brunch is usually served mid-morning until no later than 1pm.
If the baptism is before noon and most will not have eaten lunch, then a full meal or buffet would be great. If the event was after people had a chance for lunch, then light appetizer trays and salads, etc. would be appropriate.
Congratulations on the baptism and good luck with whatever menu you choose.

The brunch idea would be very nice, except for by 2 pm everyone will have had breakfast, or be absoloutly starving! It would still be nice though, because breakfast foods are good at any time of the day, or possibly you could do lupper, lunch and supper, anyways I hope i helped!

Well, it seems a bit late for a brunch but on the other hand you are surrounding yourself around friends and family and who doesn't like brunch food anytime! I doubt anyone would really notice. Brunch is always a nice treat on a Sunday!

Did a search, found a lot of listings at restaurants that even carried brunch to 4 PM.

I guess it would really depend on types of foods included, type of restaurant or if you wanted a light lunch menu or a tea party type of menu.

If you go for lunch--probably at the very least you'd want some finger types of sandwiches or absolutely gigantic hoagie; veggie tidbits/pasta or potato salad, cake/cookies; beverage.

I'd ask others that are familiar with custom in your home church what the norm is for Your area. Your pastor or the nursery people, or other young mothers or couples should be able to give you positive feed back.

Brunch is usually served between 11 and 1 so I would probably go for a finger food/h'orderve type gathering......Everyone will be mingling anyways so finger foods would be ideal....

As the party is at 2pm I am assuming that the baptism will be a late morning service so that most people will have had some type of breakfast already. Would suggest that a lunch menu might be more appropriate. Of course you know your family best and if they are the type to go out late or breakfast on weekends then brunch might be just what they are looking for.
