Any easy, but fun "over the hill" party suggestions?!

Question: I need party suggestion for a 40th birthday party. I was thinking of everyone dressing in black and making it like a wake. Maybe even a eulagy done like a "roast the guest of honor". Any good ideas that I can use to make this really fun?

You've got a good idea there so far just try not to make it too morbid..you don't want them to become depressed at 40!!!

But you could have each guest bring something that represented the era the birthday guest remembers from their youth- like Biker shorts- Madonna bangles- their favorite album- whatever the guest really enjoyed or was into in their younger years and "put it to rest"

But to end on an upbeat the 1st part of guests can do eulogy on days gone by now that you're 40..and other half of guest can do a "walk into the light" of 40 about things to look forward to at 40..which could include sagging body parts, hair loss, being called Sir or Ma'am by kids, feeling like 9pm is staying up late, Viagra as a consideration, or retirement, empty nests- finally and other things you made it through now that your 40.

Have fun and just make sure guests keep it fun and not too harsh.

Use tombstones as decorations, Have a cardboard coffin etc

Find a hill and have the party on the other side of it.

Then it will really be over the hill.

Make it at the lake and have fun. Barbecue and play music and games.

Someone I know had a party recently and the theme was..
"You came wearing That ? !!!" ...It was a very funny night.

40 is not over the hill.

Hold a baby shower for the affected. yea!

Find all the bad pictures you can of the person, blow them up, and hang them by string around everyone's necks, like big necklaces. We did that for my brother-in-law. Or just hang them all over the place. We did that one with my sister....found some real doozeys too! Have fun!!!!!! And don't forget to have one put on the cake, like the bakeries at large stores will do for you.

Great idea! Keep going with the theme.

Have everyone write a short "eulagy" to share (for christmas one of my friends gave everyone a list of 5 things she had learned from us; it was a scream).

Maybe even a big black box (see casket) to bury the remnants of their youth in i.e. Blondie albums, rainbow suspenders, pet rocks. Ask everyone to bring something.

A big framed picture of the birthday boy/girl maybe something terrible like their drivers license picture.

Vases of calla lillies. Black scarves on the mirrors. A black wreath on the door.

Sounds like a blast!

All my friends and family wore black arm bands to mine. It was hilarious!

Are you sure that the guest of honor is really going to like this idea? I find all of the "over the hill" cards, party supplies, etc offensive and just dumb.

How about just having a good party instead? Make a real theme that doesn't have to do with being "old." That would take some real creativity and effort, and it would be much more cool.

it may be cruel for a over the hill party to be a wake or in that sense. Try the opposite. give every party going bibs and bottles instead of cups. baby spoons and forks, and even give out diapers as party favors....
