What should we have to drink with dinner?!

Question: I'm frying up the shrimp in butter, olive oil and garlic in my giant cast iron skillet, and I have the cobs of corn simmering in the stock pot, I made hush puppies earlier (with diced onion and diced jalapenos), the buttery mashed potatoes with a little of the potato skin in the mix are warming on the stove, the white country gravy with fresh peppercorns is hot and steaming. I started the spinach greens about eight hours ago, using bacon and onion with some paprika in there as well, and the whole neighbourhood knows I'm cooking. The apple cobbler with crumb topping is just about ready to come out of the oven. I think everything is all set. But, here's the question. What should we have to drink?

That meal is just crying out for a big pitcher full of sweet iced tea with lemon. So what DID you serve to drink with it? :)

coke

grape soda

Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Any Chardonnay.

soy milk

Mmmmmmmm... Sounds delicious! I agree with cdrwr1013. A nice, mild, fruity, dry white wine. Like a Pino Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc. Most good whites are under 10 bucks.

Bon Appetite!

It's (way past) my bed time already!! :(

Enjoy!! :)

What did you say your address was?!?!?lol

sparkling water with a twist of lime

don't drink the corn water like you did last time.

how 'bout a mojito?

Start with some sake. Move on to dry white wine for the shrimp. Offer a sweet red for the cobbler. Finish it all with a nice peaty scotch.

Then kick back and polish off a few bottles of lager.

Either water or your fav red wine (Cabernet, probably).

Water is good because you don't take anything away from all the great flavors in the food you've been working so hard to prepare.

But a good bottle of wine can't be beat...maybe open the wine toward the end of the meal.

a good ale or bock beer

Wow, you made me really hungry, can I come over for dinner?

Pass the Mead please>

I love it when my man cooks for me. You're a good guy.

to drink... I suggest a nice sauvignon blanc or a dry rose' with hot, black coffee with the cobbler.

Box of Wine? Yummy.
(Do you know how much I hate you when I read this? I'll give you a clue - I had a veggie burger for dinner last night. That's the extent of my cooking skills.)
