Help with a (simple) dinner party?!

Question: We are having a casual family get-together dinner party. We want to have a salad bar & potato bar where everyone brings different toppings. What are some of your favorite toppings for salads & baked potatoes? And could anyone suggest a good dessert? Thanks!!

Dessert First!!!
Since you are doing the bar theme- go for an ice cream bar. Have vanilla and choc ice creams..then have diff toppings for sundaes. Guests can bring a topping choice for this as well.

Ok Salads-
Aside from the many diff salad dressings, I always like to add chick peas, bean sprouts, chopped hard boiled egg, sunflower seeds, fruits like mandarin oranges, raisins, grapes or walnuts.

Potatoes-
Chili, cheese, chives, red onions, sour cream, bacon pieces, and chopped broccoli.

Whew! Hope that helps!!!

lemon cake is delicous aND PUT OLIVES IN THE POTATO YUM

for the salad bar, baby corn cobs, chow mein noodles
for the potatoes, mexican cheese sauce, chili or salsa sauce
for a desert...
ICE CREAM SANDWICH DESSERT

1 lg. container Cool Whip
1 Butter finger, skor or Heath bar

Layer bottom of dish with ice cream sandwiches. Next, layer with Cool Whip. Repeat layers. Top with crumbled candy bar. Freeze until time to serve.

1) salad:
Greek salad_ fresh cucumbers cut in quarters, feta cheese cut in small cubes, baby tomato cut to halves, and chopped spring onions
mix the whole lot together with a bit of salt and olive oil

2) potato dish:
2 regular cans of baby potato and 1 can of baby carrots (optional), get ride of the liquid then add 1 1/2spoon of oil and a bit of salt and black paper.. then put them in an oven dish and into the preheated oven for 15-20 mins in a medium heat... and keep checking on them by shaking them every 5mins..

3)dessert:
jelly with some fresh chopped fruit.. u can get jelly powder from any supermarket.. then after putting it in the bowl leave it to cool for 5-7mins out side the fridge and drop the fruit into it then put it in the fridge for at least 3 1/2hours

Toppings for the salad: tortilla chips, crumbled feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, all kinds of nuts, mandarin wedges for Asian inspired salads, mangoes, apples, raisins, pears, shredded grilled chicken, diced ham, diced cheese, dried fruit, among others.
Toppings for potatoes: cheese, cream, butter, bacon, diced peppers, broccoli w/ cheese, ground meat, among others.
Dessert: ice-cream bar, same idea as the other two offer vanilla and chocolate ice-cream with different toppings. Syrups, chopped candy, fruit, jam, hot chocolate, nuts, etc.
Good Luck!
