Check out this site for loads of ideas:

Here's mine for wrapping:
1.)Christmas cracker: place wrapped candy in cardboard tube.
Roll in paper. Tape shut. Roll in Christmas paper with ends of paper extending. Tye ribbon close to tube.

Card:
Christmas is not a time for dieting.
It's time for dancing, eating and laughing.
Treat this gift gently and have a care
'Cause little elves are watching out there.

2.)Paper bag gingerbread boy or girl--. Laced with yarn to hold closed the edges. Gift between body front and back.

3.)Paper plate wall hanger, decorated with Christmas things.
Can be 1 whole plate with 1/2 plate forming pocket when edges are laced together with yarn. Line up and use hole puncher to form stitch points.

4.)Doily cone with ribbon hanger. Christmas place mat or wrapping paper cone.

coconut ice or macaroons are nice.

All you need is some clear, or transparent Seran Wrap, it comes in holiday colors too, put the fudge on a paper plate, wrap it in the Seran Wrap, and tie with a ribbon. Viola!

it's really not that hard (and in my opinion it's fun) to make papier mache boxes to put gifts like this in. get a small cardboard box and papier mache round it. when it is competly dry you cna paint a design onto it, put some nice coloured tissue paper inside and then the fudge.

You can get tin bowls from the dollar store.
Use Zip-Loc Bags, for christmas they have ziploc bags that are decorated with snowmen & snowfalkes.

There's instruction on the back of the box.

here's an idea-make overnight forgotten cookies
wrap each one saran wrap
tie red bow
2 egg whites room temperature
a dash salt
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup nestle chocolate chips
1 cup finely chopped pecans
preheat oven 350
beat egg whites till foamy
slowly add sugar while beating
as you whip into stiff peaks
add salt vanilla folding in
add chips and nuts folding in
drop by Tablespoon
onto foil lined cookie sheet
place in oven
shut off oven-go to bed
8 hrs later-wake bunch cookies
tootsie

I suggest sending something that is useful after the food items are gone. Baskets are nice, but they aren't always very practical.

You could use some pretty glass serving bowls or inexpensive platters to hold the goodies. Cover the food in colored Saran wrap, then tie it up with a bow.

For just a little extra money, your son will be giving two gifts -- one for immediate enjoyment and one that will continue to be useful after the fudge is gone.

This is a really simple and popular one I do.

PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE
1 cup butter, plus more for greasing pan
1 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pound powdered sugar
Microwave butter and peanut butter for 2 minutes on high. Stir and microwave on high for 2 more minutes. Add vanilla and powdered sugar to peanut butter mixture and stir to combine with a wooden spoon. Pour into a buttered 8 by 8-inch pan lined with waxed paper. Place a second piece of waxed paper on the surface of the fudge and refrigerate until cool. Cut into 1-inch pieces and store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Good luck

Go to the dollar store and buy some coffee mugs, and some of those small seran gift bags. Use the gift bag to put the fudge and small cookies into, then tie with a bow and put into the coffee mug.

Here is a great no bake recipe that kids love to eat and make, as it is very messy on the hands, but not on the kitchen.

Peanut Butter Balls
Yields 75 balls

3 cups powdered sugar
2 cups peanut butter
3 ? cups rice crispies
1 stick butter (softened)

Mix above ingredients and form into balls. Place in freezer for at least 10 minutes (I leave mine in overnight).

8 oz semi-sweet chocolate bar
6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
? slab paraffin

Melt above ingredients together. Using 2 forks roll the balls in the chocolate mixture. Place back in freezer for at least 5 minutes. At this point I put mine in zip loc bags and leave in freezer (they defrost quickly, and they taste great frozen as well).

If you can find almond bark, it works fine, and check at Sam’s for Candiquick. It works great and comes with chocolate and vanilla.
