You are cordially invited to a garden party... what would you expect to be at the party?!
Answers: Beautiful floral arrangements or clever use of plants and potted flowers. Areas to wander and enjoy plus an area for the food tables. Some cold dishes like tea sandwiches , cold salmon or fish pate type items. Salads, fruit, cheese, Wine. Tea. Minted, cucumber or lemon water. Appropriate music either thru a sound system or someone playing something live- like a local pianist, harpist or chamber music ensemble.
People. Food. Alcohol. Soft Music. Tables & Chairs. Party Games.
I would expect it to be outdoors and semi-formal attire.
Depends if it's a culinary theme or visual theme.
Single men.
Cordials, garden peas, party hats
Bridget Jones in a playboy bunny outfit!
An elegant tea party with sophisticated foods. I also think a garden party is intimiate with only a handful of friends.
I would expect to be myself! But if you want to ask, what is a garden party and what should I expect to find there.......some refreshments, food drink music etc. Its just a casual party in a garden setting!
I would expect that the party would be in the garden and that your garden would have beautiful plants and flowers through out. I would expect the grass to look green and healthy. I would expect you to serve veggie trays and dips and salad.
Other guests dressed in nicer casual clothes eating light finger foods, and drinking light beverages (alcoholic as well as non) talking to all of the other guests as soft music plays in the background. After a couple of hours everyone will go home.
Beautiful centerpieces of fresh cut flowers,Finger sandwiches appetizers,Tea and coffee. Bowls of fresh fruit, sliced with dip. Light music, good company
I would like a tasting party - teas - coffees and wines. I would expect the appetizers to be perfectly balanced with each offering.
Teas: Different varieties of Mariage teas...Early Grey, Mint, Jasmine, etc. None of the pre-bagged stuff...just loose leaf.
Paired with fruit, light pastries
Coffees: Kona, Blue Mountain, Kenyan, Costa Rican paired with varietal chocolates
Wines: Pinots from Oregon; Cabs from Chile; Chardonnays from Alexander Valley paired with cheeses, breads and fruit
cute colorful flower arrangements at the center of each table in a pretty vase with clear glass pebbles surrounding the flowers
Hot tea w/lemon or sugar and cream if desired. Cucumber sandwiches, cress andwiches, pimento cheese sandwiches, cookies, a sponge cake, strawberries, blueberries and mint candies.
Beautiful ladies in dresses and hats.
Good conversation!
Since I have never been to one, I would probably go just to see what it is like.
I would just go and be myself.
there are things to consider:
-day or night party? night party might require you to dress up a little than the day-party, and more alcoholic drinks at night
the host's personality will give you a clue what to expect in that party.
Ladies dressed in white, finger foods, tea, lovely flower arrangements, perhaps a fountain, a canopy and music, preferably live.
I associate garden party with something in mid afternoon. I would expect substantial appetizers or small sandwiches plus.some type of special beverage (punch, lemonade, cider, etc). If alcohol is served, I would expect it to be just one particular drink prepared for the group (e.g. spiked punch, margaritas, mint juleps) plus help-yourself beer and wine. I wouldn't expect a full bar with all different types of drinks.
I wouldn't expect a full sit-down meal.
Hi,
I will expect to have food and dessert. I will love to have a chocolate fountain with different dipping options like
