21st meal idea??!

Question: I have been to many 21st's lately and all have provided fingerfood that just wasn't really enough. i am having mine at home and hav access to bbq and kitchen etc. was thinking more along the lines of a help your self meal idea. instead of having waiters come around with finger food... any suggestions??

A serve-yourself buffet is really fun. I love doing it. Here are some ideas:

Pasta bar:
* A choice of 3 sauces (keep these hot in crock pots or steam pans) Meat, Veggie, and cream sauce
* Choice of 2 cooked pastas (be sure to toss with olive oil so they don't clump) kept warm in a steam pan - traditional spaghetti, pasta shapes, ziti
* garlic bread
* salad with 2 or 3 choices of dressing
* sangria

Taco bar:
* Same idea as above, offering hard shells or soft tortillas, and different fillings
* margaritas

Picnic bar:
* Offer different types of rolls, meats, cheeses, etc
* Hot wings & sauce or fried chicken
* Potato salad, coleslaw, macaroni salad
* 2 types of chips (tortilla, regular potato)
* beer!

Depending on if you have a theme in mind, you can tailor the menu to how you want. Good luck and enjoy!

chocken alfredo

nah ... not good

maybe a buffet, so that when ever someones hungry they can just help them selfs.

Have a potluck, everyone brings a dish, lots of variety that way and its fun!

When ever my friends and I have get togethers we usually have things like, Chicken wings, Taquitos and maybe meatballs.

A buffet is an excellent choice! BBQ sounds delicious! Try some baby back ribs and link sausage. A brisket sliced goes a long way and if you make a boat out of alum. foil and cook the brisket in it with a marinade it will taste great and won't burn. put out a loaf or 2 of bread for the brisket and links, buy at the grocery a macaroni salad and some baked beans and you wil have a nice Texas BBQ dinner! You can use any sides that you like anything goes with BBQ.

A really really simple and easy way to do it is to go to your local butcher or find a catering service that will cook a roast for you. Get them to cut it up. You can pick it up that morning and then reheat it in your oven that night. They normally will give it to you in aluminium disposable trays that you can put straight in your oven. Make gravy and have hot beef rolls with gravy. People just get a roll, pop the meat on and add their own gravy. They are a huge success and great food to have when drinking which I'm sure will be happening at a 21st. Just make a few salads and people can serve themselves!
