Need advise on Halloween dessert idea.?!

Question: We are having a contest at work and i wanted to make caramel apples. But I want to make them Trick Candy Apples. ( you know like trick or treat )
The only 2 ideas I have for tricks are something unexpectedly gross like seaweed around it or an unexpected spice. like curry.
But it is a taste contest so my other idea is instead of apples, put popcorn balls on sticks so that's the trick that it's not an apple.
Any advice or ideas?

Did a quick search!

Check out these sites, if a picture is worth a thousand words than the first site ought to do the trick; can't tell you how it's done but its your take on your apples that count:

Found a picture, lost now, gummy worms on caramel apple.
Could do faces, ghost, jack o'lantern, Add hat for witch, pirate, etc.
Some of those fruit sheet candies, cut out --and gum drop or orange slice pieces on caramel. Use icing for glue.

I love it! I would do caramel apples but put some cayenne pepper in the caramel. (tabasco would be even better, but the liquid will ruin the consistency of the caramel!)

It's not what you're looking for, but a HUGE, delicious hit is:

Graveyard chocolate mousse.
Mix chocolate pudding with cool whip, crumble crushed oreos over the top and decorate it like a graveyard. You can use matchstick pretzels as a graveyard fence, and decorate graham crackers to look like tomb stones....they also sell little ghosts that you can use as well.

I think the popcorn balls on sticks would go over better than the trick apples. It would still get the "trick" idea across, but you wouldn't ruin the taste of the apples.

"Kitty Litter Cake"

CAKE INGREDIENTS:
1 box spice of German chocolate cake mix
1 box of white cake mix
1 package white sandwich cookies
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix
A few drops green food coloring
12 small Tootsie Rolls or equivalent

SERVING "DISHES AND UTENSILS"
1 NEW cat-litter box 1 NEW cat-litter box liner 1 NEW pooper scooper

1) Prepare and bake cake mixes, according to directions, in any size pan. Prepare pudding and chill. Crumble cookies in small batches in blender or food processor. Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside.

2) When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture moist but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and pour in mixture.

3) Unwrap 3 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft and pliable. Shape
The blunt ends into slightly curved points. Repeat with three more rolls. Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture. Sprinkle remaining white cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over top.

4) Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box. Heat the remaining Tootsie Roll until pliable and hang it over the edge of the box. Place box on a sheet of newspaper with sign below, and serve with scooper. Enjoy!

I think the popcorn ball is a good idea it would still taste good and wouldn't shock anybody in a negative way. You could do the same thing with rice crispie treats it might be easier to shape them. Putting something disgusting around an apple or hidden under some caramel could blow up in your face, you never know what health problems or allergies your coworkers could have.

i think u should make cupcakes with orange coloreed or black colored icinnng yummmyyy
