I hate to think we need alcohol to have a good time..but we do, have enough wine, liqueur, beer and (or) champagne for all of the adults. Make sure you have good music that is not too loud and plenty of food or snacks.
People want to be occupied when they get to a party so that they don't have to just stand around feeling awkward. Food, liqueur and music= great party.............The music should occupy the teens...tell them all to go in another room.

pass the parcel is still good for adults, put prizes in between the wrappers that are relevant for certain guests and the reason why, even if they dont get that prize it can be funny

Go reserve a keg now.

You could have prizes that are auctioned off at the end of the night or do a prize drawing ever 30 minutes to an hour.

Lots of booze, hotwings, and pizza, TADA, instant hit!!

taco dip is the first to go at any party, some meatballs in a crock pot, veggies and dip, chez & sausage, something sweet too. have all the food in one area, drinks all together in another. have less seats then people, it keeps them moving around. have music going. find some fun games to play online somewhere or get a good game from the store. Cranium is good. have an area for the teens to hang out, they probly won't want to hang with you guys.

There are some REALLY fun trivia games that you can play on a TV screen. Some are movie or music and the teens will be very into this and they will help the adults play them. They have Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader on DVD and lots of other things that will get everyone interacting.

Keep the food simple and really, really good. Buffalo wings, celery sticks and blue cheese dip, pizza, lasagna, salads, brownies, cookies, cakes.

Put a "SLOW DIPS AHEAD" sign and fill the table with 14 different dips and chips or crackers. You can do peanut dips, cheese dips, chocolate dips and fruit, sour cream dips, oinon dips, shrimp dips, mexican cheese dips, guacamole and tortilla chips, spinach dip with rye bread cubes etc.

Borrow a couple of big coolers with ice and fill one with assorted microbrewery beers and wine and the other with glass bottles of all kinds of soda pops you wouldn't ordinarily purchase- creme soda, black cherry, root beer, grape, etc. and some stand by flavors like retro bottles of Coke or 7Up. Have a little bucket for the tops and have a couple of bottle openers out for the guests. You'll start a great discussion about what's different from when you were a teen just from the bottles of soda pop.

How about a cocktail party with a fun theme: masquerade, etc. Serve creative and colorful appetizers.

Or you could also give your party a fund raising theme ( "party for a cause") and have every one contribute to a local charity or just raise awareness for a particular cause. This is a great way to make them feel good while celebrating.
