nahh bonfires are fun for all ages.
smores you know the usual.
hahha crowd pleaser

i hate bonfire night. I never used to like the fireworks as a kid. I think they should have controlled displays only.

bonfire night is great, so much fun and to take ur kids to see it

i dont like bonfire night but i have to go to a bonfire every year because i have 3 kids and they love it

Of course it's a waste of money.(Let's not even discuss the original political reason behind it [corrupt government, assassination etc.])

Plenty fireworks all year round nowadays, Asian weddings and other celebrations. Saving the noise and nuisance for bonfire night is pointless now in UK.

if you enjoy it then it is not a waste of money - November 5th without bonfire night? Unthinkable!

Bonfire night is a waste of money!!
Bonfire night should be one night a year and it should be in a controlled display not for anyone and everyone to be allowed to purchase fireworks and frighten people, which is what a lot of teenage kids do. I have walked home from work etc and found teenagers throwing fireworks at each other, most of them at an age where they should know better, I once had a Catherine wheel hit me on the top of my head, luckily it hit and then spinned off elsewhere but, in my opinion these fireworks are far too dangerous. Bangers are especially nasty for people that have been thru the war!! These people are reminded of the bad old days and some have had panic attacks etc!!
I feel the laws need to be changed regarding fireworks because they can be a nuisance and very dangerous. Some people use fireworks from the beginning of october until its almost christmas and then again on new years eve - so i think it is taking it a bit too far!!
Poor animals shouldnt have to be shut in for nearly 3months its not fair on them!!! Young children are afraid of the banging noises my friends children scream when the bangers go bang and she cannot calm them down - so its unfair on the younger children and the mothers.
So yeah its a waste of money and should be banned unless its controlled by the councils which lets face it, it wouldnt hurt the councils to put on a nice big display once a year - well even twice if you count new years eve!!

Very subjective, In my opinion, it would be much better if people went to 'organised events' instead of having private parties............there would be a lot less injury, people could look after the kids better and we'd reduce Guy Fawkes' on-going carbon footprint. Ask any nurse who's worked a casualty shift around firework night, and firemen, and it scares the animals!! much better to get some nice dope in and make some toffee!

A total waste of money. Perhaps if folk knew why the day was so special, it might make a bit of difference, but ask a crowd of people who are at a bonfire/fireworks display and I can bet that hardly any of them will know why the day is being remembered.

So long as you remember what November the fifth is all about the its worth every penny
Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

I think it depends on whether or not it means something to you.

I've personally never had any issues with people who misuse fireworks so I can't really say much on that aspect of it.

When I studied at A&M, in 1999, there was a big tragedy due to a wrongly built bonfire, some students died and others had permanet damage (like loosing a leg). The university handled the situation like "well you know, accidents happen", and brain-washed (much in the college station style) the students to support bonfire in spite of the tragedy. The truth is that this was not a mere accident, it was completely preventable; but the university was only not checking the process but neither controling the "recruiters" who would hit on your door (at the dorms) at 4 am until they "forced" u to help build the bonfire.
*From my point of view, the university authorities very subtly skipped their responsability and most students very stupidly felt into their game. This bonfire was not only a waste of money, time, effort (that could be better use in more productive things like helping kids with need, etc) and more pollution to the environment; it was a living proof of how corrupted & idiotic the system is and it was a loss of human lives. Some of them probably didn't even want to participate, but were forced too! And justice was cleverly skipped.

no way, they are super fun

I think it is a waste of money to buy the fireworks but it is fun to watch the fireworks display on Bonfire night.

Why, are you paying?

Yes it is. sorry but i hate fireworks, and also its so out of date, how people can afford them thy are so expensive,

no, they usually turn out really fun to me. but we usually all chip in, not just one person uses their money. bring a lot of entertainment and food. play games, talk, chill, eat, that`s pretty much what you do. pretty much a party on the beach!

I don't think so, it is a celebration of what could have happened to our Houses of Parliment and King James. I think that Halloween is a waste of money though - Why spend money on a smelly plastic mask and sweets just because they will egg your house if you don't give them sweets.

yes it is... but it's also fun so who cares about the cost??

i used to love going to the free bonfire nights, with fire works and fizzers etc but now its costs up to ten quid to see them, so we go to a mates house now!! x
