Arrival Time for French Dinner Parties?!

Question: I was wondering when you are supposed to arrive at a dinner party in France. I have heard that you should not arrive until 15-20 minutes after the time you have been given and I have also heard that you should not be more than 10 minutes late unless you call ahead of time. Could someone clear this up for me?? Thank you!

Simply call the host and ask!
.

Find out beforehand and RSVP

If you aren't going then you don't observe the 15-20 min. late arrival because you aren't GOING to arrive. So 10 minutes is fine to call.
