dont worry everything will fall into place once everyone gets there...

Depends on what you like.
My parties always have Sean Paul, Justin Timberlake anything people can dance too.... Again depends on the genre....

Well, first, to help you out with the trying to figure out how to fit 30 people in your apartment dilemma...
Is your apartment on the first floor? You could set some tables up outside and let some people hang around outside.

And as for music, well, I have a different taste for music that alot of people. Not exactly 'party' music. But, this is the best I could come up with:

'Misery Business' - Paramore.
Fast, lively song, very catchy, you should check it out =)

'Fences' - Paramore.
Another jumpy song, very lively, nice for a party.

'Pretender' - Foo Fighters.
Agressive song. Lively, up beat, very powerful.

Maybe a bit of Greenday?

Anything by Panic! at the Disco is lively and great for a party. Good suggestions would be:
The only difference between...
I Write Sins Not Tragedies
But It's Better If You Do

Queen is always great.

Right Said Fred =D

Sorry if none of these were helpful.
But I hope you find the music you like, and have a good time at your party!

FIRST OF ALL CALM DOWN 'N RELAX!!
DO WHAT YOU CAN DON'T STRESS
YOURSELF OUT OR THIS WILL BE YOUR FIRST AND LAST PARTY!! RELAX
OR YOUR GUESTS WILL PICK UP ON YOUR MOOD AND NOBODY WILL HAVE A GOOD TIME

well; don't be afraid everything wil go right...... u can keep soft music and i think u should be the first couple to dance on the ground...... bye

seems overwhelming when you think about all at the same time...but calm down and just focus on one thing at a time and you will find that it IS possible to get done. Write out your list and cross things off as you go.
-cleaning - everyone always wants to clean their house before a party. Understandable...but when you go to others peoples house are you examining their floor or sinks or toilets? NO! So don't beat yourself up over this - the REAL cleaning will come after the party. For now, just clean your guest bathroom, quick sweep, mop, vacuum and that's all you really need!
-music - if you are really in a bind, just go buy some Cd's. Pottery Barn's Dinner at 8 is good.
-food/drink - this will take you a half hour tops at the store.
-fitting people in your place - they will find room, don't worry. Plus, it is inevitable, some people just won't show up even if they said they would - it always happens!

First of all, relax. There's nothing to be scared of. Hit Cosco, Superwalmart, BJ's. Anywhere like that where you can get the majority of your items. I know the BJ's in NY have a liquor store in front, you would be able to get everything there in one trip.

As for compiling music, before you start making mix CD's, check your cable. Way high up in my cable channels we have a ton of different types of music way up there. Plug your speakers right into your TV.

As for fitting everyone in your house, think of your house sections. Of course you need to clean up, while you are cleaning up take out all the things you don't need. For example in my small apartment we have 2 end tables and a coffee table. Take one of the tables out. Move a kitchen chair in that spot. Just reconfigure for the night.

One thing that I would say is be aware of your bathroom. It's often overlooked at parties. Make sure you have a scented candle in there, possibly some room spray, pump soap and hand towels. I am sure I don't have to tell you why.
