What do I serve with smoked salmon?!

Question: I am having about 20 ladyfriends over today and one of the things I have to serve is smoked salmon. What do I serve with it? Crackers? or just the salmon? I am serving other dishes also but just don't know if I should have something to accompinate .

A light fruity wine and crackers. Make a cream cheese based dip...maybe with chives. Thats what I like with mine, just a hint though, dont over power the salmon. And keep the crackers simple...maybe a sesame or cracked wheat.

i would serve the crackers.. get a good dill sauce.. asparagus also goes very well with smoked salmon...

Yes, serve it with crackers and maybe some grapes. Havee a nice Oregon or Washington white wine and it will be perfect.

Simple! Serve it with something green and fresh like sliced cucumber, radish, carrots sticks, celery sticks... It's the favourite of all women... I am sure they will love it! Have a bit of salad cream around if possible... Enjoy your meal.

Toasted bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon is good.

You could make it look really nice if you cut the bagel into 4.

batter it first then serve with chips and curry sauce ...

Salad

When entertaining I like to try to give my guests something that they will like. Since there is no way to be sure that everyone will like a specific thing whenever possible I give people choices. By offering choices you not only give people the ability to find something that they like but you allow people to try more than one thing. With this in mind I would server a few different things with smoked salmon.

I would start with what are considered bases.
blinis – little pancakes
toast points – any bread with do but I personally like to make my points from breads with lots of flavor like rye and whole wheat.
cucumber slices – great for people on low carbohydrate diets

Next I would work on spreads like
Caper and cream cheese with a little lemon
Aioli with dill (if you don’t know how to make an aioli just mix some dill with mayonnaise)
Tomato and Red onion relish
Keep in mind that your salmon will already have quite a bit of salt so do not add to much salt to your spreads.

In order to give more taste combinations and give you materials to garnish with you may want to consider some small portions of
Chopped Chili
Lemon wedges and or lemon zest
Thin apple slices (an option to plain apples could be applies sprinkled with a mixture of pepper and brown sugar)
Fresh Herbs

Now layout your salmon on a platter and remember to pre-separate it and if the slices are large pre-cut them. I sometimes will roll or even bunch individual piece of salmon up to give them a nice 3 dimensional look. It is not always appetizing to see a flat piece of salmon stuck to a plate.

Many people feel that there are specific ways that things should be eaten so you may need to help your guest along by trying something and then saying if you like it or not. For example you could take a toaster point put some aioli on it and then some chili and say wow I really like the way that the chili goes with the salmon or maybe O I don’t really like the way that the chili overpowers the salmon. In either case you may be able to start people trying different things and talking about it which is a great way to spend time and really enjoy the food that you have prepared and served.

Enjoy

brown bread cut in triangles, blinis, wedge of lemon, and a light mayo based or creme fresh dressing will be nice

I would serve assorted crackers, plain and chive cream cheese, lemon and tomato slices - they are tasty with smoked salmon and give nice color to the foods. Mini bagels halved are nice too, or bagel chips.
Have a fun day!

EDITED TO ADD:
The Pepperidge Farms cracker assortment is nice - 4 different sleeves of crackers, without 4 open boxes.

garlic bread salad or rice

Cream cheese, celery, carrotsslightly cooked maybe steamed, baby corn, deviled eggs, a small suace container mayo, tartar suace and mustard. casserole of scalpped potatos, and maybe salad? make sandwiches platter/ dinner rolls sliced tomatos, lettuce, and cucumber slices?
