Any ideas on what I should serve?!

Question: I am having a Dora the Explorer birthday party for my daughter's 4 th birthday. I know a Taco bar seems to be a good idea. However I am thinking of the mess it could be. Also I would like something a little more for the grown ups. Any ideas?

Okay, let's face it, anything you do with 4 year olds will be a mess. That my friend is a fact. To stay on the Spanish theme I would do a plain Quessidilla for the kids (after all it's just a fancy name for grilled cheese) and you can spice it up a bit for the adults...use steak or chicken or even shrimp. Then on the side you can provide a number of different kind of condiments, guacamole, salsa, (mango or plain) black beans anything.
Dessert is were you'll get them.....set up an ice cream bar......give them the ice cream and then let them add the toppings, brownies, gummies sprinkles, M&M's whatever their little hearts desire. Again let's face it your gonna have a mess no matter what. So let them have a blast and worry about the mess after. When you hear their little screams of delight it makes cleaning up a whole lot easier.

you could serve taquita's! YUMMM

I like serving sloppy joes at parties with kids and adults. Seems like almost everyone likes them, and they are not quite as messy as tacos.

Taco parties are fun though! For the adults you can add in some spicy dips, etc.

That is going to be a horrific mess, also, there will be quite a few 4 year olds that don't like tacos. How about quesadillas? You can prepare them in advance and just pop them in the oven when your ready to eat for about 10 minutes. Every kids likes melted cheese, and you can add whatever you like for the adults. Veggies, meat, shrimp, etc. You can go just about anywhere. Also fresh fruit kebabs with a yogurt dip.

instead, make a sandwich bar. its much easier to make, and trust me theres less of a mess.but make sure to have solid food, such as chesse and tomatoes. so is that good enough?

Quesadillas(spelling?) are easy and certainly wouldn't be as messy. For the children, offer cheese as well as a few other choices of veggies and meat. You can be a bit more creative, for the parents. Get a couple of parents to help assemble and cook. Use white grape juice and fruit to make"virgin" sangria. Good luck and happy b-day to your little one.

Somehow....tacos and 4 year olds just doesn't sound like a good idea....maybe nachos would be better.....then they would be in pieces already and they could pick the toppings of their choice....have other toppings (onions, peppers, sour cream, salsa, mushrooms etc) for the adults since 'little ones' tend to be a little picky.

Wrapped sandwiches are fun. Keep the kids playful and what they enjoy eating. The adults can be almost anything.
Make your own by rolling in parchment paper. You can tie the kids wraps with colorful ribbons.

Or make mac and cheese for the kids with pigs in a blanket. They love the finger foods.
And a make your own sundae bar. Scoop out the ice cream and have different toppings available in shakers.
Instead of soda, I have bought various boxes of juice and let the kids take what they like. Usually in portions the kids will drink and keeps spills to a minimum.

Have fun
