Can you safely warm food in Rubbermaid plastic containers with the top off in a microwave?!

Question: The newer plastic containers are best for microwaving. Unlike the older ones, which can also be heated in, they don't melt or stain as readily.

Yes, they should all be microwave safe.

Yes u might want to cover it with a paper towel tho to prevent from food being splattered all in the microwave.

Yes, you can even rest the lid on top to avoid those messy food explosions.

Yup. I do it all the time -- no problem. Sometimes I pop the cover off but put it back over the top of the container to keep the steam in, and sometimes I'll cover stuff that has the potential to be messy with a paper towel so it doesn't pop and spray all over the inside of the microwave though.

The only problem I have had with microwaving in Rubbermaid, is that if you heat up things that are red, like spaghetti sauce, they stain the plastic and are never the same again.

Yes, but its a good idea to cover the container with a paper towel.
