for the children's tea party... have warm apple cider served in clear or 'Princesses" cups, bake and make peti-four type cakes, even have slices of fruit that you or let the children dip into white chocolate. This will really make them feel so special!!, have small sandwiches (your choice) without the crust you could use cooking cutters to have a fancy sandwich.
Remember the kids are going to be to excited to really eat a full course meal so let them enjoy something they will like!

Then for the adults have a meal that you and your guest enjoy.
With the children busy enjoying their fun will allow you to enjoy a happy home filled with fun for all.

You can serve little sandwiches cut into Disney characters. The sandwiches can be peanut butter and jelly, tuna, turkey, and grilled cheese sandwiches. Do not serve hot dogs, not good for the smaller children (possible choking). Serve punch in tea cups. You can ask the children (parents can participate also) to dress up in their favorite Disney Princess character. You can have pasta salads and garden salads. Just don't be surprise if the children won't touch them, but at least the adults will. You can also have the children decorate their own cupcakes. Bake cupcakes the day ahead and buy a few ready made frosting and assorted toppings. This will eliminate buying a cake and cup cake decorating is much more fun. Another tip, find out if any of the children are allergic to peanuts, if some are do not serve peanuts or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I think this type of party will be fine for adults and children. Don't forget to have lots of prizes for the best costume and decorated cup cake, just to name a few. Also, don't lose sight that the party is really for the children and not the adults. Good luck with the party.

don't make it too complicated for the kids b/c they are just going to play with the food anyways. For the kids be simple like hotdogs (no chili), chips and sandwiches (but cut them up in squares). The kids are more focused on playing so most of the food will go to waste. For the adults, barbecue some chicken, ribs and hamburgers. Have some rice, beans and potato salad as sides. And that should do it.
