Party planning have I missed anything?!
Answers: my Spike the Tea party is this weekend. I have my food, drinks, deco cups/plates ready to go. I have to get the gifts for my gift bags, but I know what I'm going to put in them. I have my cd's that im going to play. I'm excited, but nervous I want everybody to have a good time. how do i make sure everyone is not just sitting around bored? It's a "girlfriends" party and not all of my friends know each other.
Have a few games as ice breakers. For a party I had, I printed short jokes off the Internet, cut the jokes out and folded the papers, and put them in a bowl. We passed the bowl around and people that wanted to, picked a folded paper and read the joke out loud. I picked jokes that wouldn't be offensive to anyone, and were in areas of interest to a lot of the guests. People liked the opportunity to laugh and get the party going.
Have lots of seating, play music, and place the drinks across the room from the food, to encourage mingling.
I like the joke idea.
have cute name tags for your guests - you can get plain ones and dress them up with tea cup stickers and use a pretty purple marker to write the names.
have a few less chairs than people, this keeps them moving around and mingling.
have everyone bring a drink recipe to share, get some recipe cards to write them down on.
have some photo albums out if you want to keep friends entertained looking through them.
