What foods are easy to make for a crowd of 16 that will be in our home for a weekend?!

Question: I used to have family in for the week between Christmas & New Years every year. I had a group of adults & children, about 15 total. I used to buy those large foil baking pans and make ahead of time and then freeze it to make later throughout the week. I made ahead 2-3 large pans of cinnamon rolls, breakfast quiche, banana bread(in smaller foil pans). I also made a ham for sandwiches. Lots of chips for the sandwiches, Rotel cheese dip with hamburger. The first meal I made a turkey and all the fixings so we had the leftovers from that. If you are not into that then I would suggest frying up some chicken and maybe a meatloaf and serve baked potatoes with it and salad & bread & veggie.
Good Luck & have a good time.

lasagne

Big pot of Chilli

nothing beats a bbq. chuck some meat on the barbie make a side salad and maybe a simple pasta. put out bread and no one will complain.
also a stir fry is a really easy option too

Chili is always good for a crowd. Or some kind of stew. Anything you can throw into a slow cooker. How about Kalua Pork? Easy and feeds a lot of people.

Kalua Pig

1 (6 pound) pork butt roast
1 1/2 tablespoons Hawaiian sea salt
1 tablespoon liquid smoke flavoring

Pierce pork all over with a carving fork. Rub salt then liquid smoke over meat. Place roast in a slow cooker.

Cover, and cook on Low for 16 to 20 hours, turning once during cooking time.

Remove meat from slow cooker, and shred, adding drippings as needed to moisten.

You can make easy pulled pork sandwhiches with this - just top with bbq sauce and/or cole slaw. The pork is really, really good and you can spice it up anyway you like.

The above recipe serves 12, but you could easily double it to feed more.

pasta... different sorts of nibblies.. or even sushi :)

spaghetti: because all you have to do is buy tons of sauce and put lots of noodles in big pots and boil them.. takes all of around.... 20 min to cook enuf for 16 ppl....

a do it your self burrito thing: like buy lots of tortillas and beans and rice and salsa and sourcream, or w.e you want and set them out on your counter in a need manor.. and have plates ready at the beggining

broccli rice and chicken: broccli rice is as easy to make as toast (not really) but it is found in the rice isle at your grocery store and you can buy a couple chicken breasts already cooked at your local grocery store too.

if you need breakfast and lunch ideas... breakfast.. just scrambled eggs and toast.... and maybe a different day hash browns and eggs.....
and lunch.. just have alot of sandwich making materials... everybody luvs sandwiches

hope these suggestions help :)!!

sanwiches or burgers on the grill...u can't go wrong with that

This is easy
roast beef and gravy with mashed potatoes (you can do roast beef and gravy easily by purchasing a good quality store roasted beef from a quality meat store already sliced-kind of medium thick) throw the slices in a huge skillet or stock pot and with some melted butter and olive oil. saute it with some fine minced onions and mushrooms if you like them and then remove the meat and reserve, throw in some flour ( use 1 Tablespoon flour to each cup of broth) scraping the bottom of the pan well (add some more butter or olive oil if you need more to cook the flour for a minute or 2) and use a good rich canned or organic beef broth to make gravy. salt and pepper and let thicken then put the meat back in to simmer.

(don't buy deli lunch meat it must be a good meat stores store roasted beef)

then make a crap load of mashed potatoes maybe a big pot of green beans. and some brown and serve rolls and wallah, a delicious supper.

a few pans of lasagna is a good choice too!

Cook rice leave to one side. Fry leeks, add tinned tuna, add tinned condensend mushroom soup, mix in rice - all in one big pot. Transfer to oven proof dish, sprinkle with breadcrumbs and put in the fridge until it needs cooking, which will take about 25 minutes 180 degrees. Very tasty, very easy and can all be prepared the day before they arrive

Homemade soup..If it is real cold. Have grilled cheese and peanut butter sandwich. Most people likes soup and sandwich. Soup is hard to make a small pot so for 16 people a big pot will work and they will enjoy it...Hope that imay have helped..

A big pot of chili seems to be the consensus. Spaghetti is good too, or a big kettle of chicken and dumplings or beef vegetable soup with noodles. Lunches: But an assortment of deli-meats, cheeses and rolls, plus fixins like lettuce tomato, onion and condiments...A big platter of fruit and you're set! Breakfasts...There are lots of recipes out there for "egg" casseroles with everything in them from bacon to cheese to hashbrowns. Try www.allrecipes.com or foodnetwork.com.
Good luck!
PS. Chili, spaghetti and the soups freeze well to so you could make them ahead and have more time to spend with your guests! Sloppy-joes goes a long way too! :-)

Any kind of pasta, chili, enchilladas, casseroles of any kind.
