A football game on the bigscreen you've moved out to the yard! And a game of washers or horseshoes and lots of COLD beer or magaritas to keep the conversation flowing. It's best if you dont' serve all the food at once. Cut the ribs individually and pass them around as appetizers. Ditto for wings. Then grill a few brats and slice them up into coin size pieces and pass them around with some mustard for people to eat bitesize pieces. The point is, once people are full and have lost their buzz, all they want is to go home and be comfortable. So you have to drag out the food and drinks as long as possible.

Get a big poster of some in hollywood that irks you and shoot darts at it.
Play hot potato... It is especially fun with a real hot potato wrapped in foil...
Pass an apple from chin to chin.
Give a warning that the first person caught swearing will get a whipped cream pie in the face.
Bob for apples.

first you have to have BBQ'd food. Otherwise its just a party with food. Organize something to do. Games or Cornhole /Horseshoe tournaments.

I think a great BBQ has to have good company. A buffet of picnic / BBQ style foods Like potatoe and macaroni salad, a fruit bowl, grilled corn on the cob, BBQ chicken or Italian sausage or hamburgers & hotdogs. If every body brings a dish to pass then the assortment for the buffet can be endless. A few games like horseshoes, bocce ball, volley ball or a baseball game or kick ball game, bean bag toss. Good weather would also be a must. Have fun at your next BBQ that you decide to host!!

having B B King there?
