Tip for a cake?!
Answers: I am having someone make a custom cake for my sister in-law's baby shower.. The lady gave me a flat rate for the cake and she will be delivering it the day of the shower with no extra delivery fees. Should I tip her? I have heard of people tipping because she delivered.. so please help me.. should I or shouldn't I????
I would say that tipping is discretionary. I would tip her for sure but would decide on the amount at the time of delivery. I would then decide based on timeliness of the delivery and my satisfaction with the look of the cake since I can't taste it before hand. If everything is perfect and exceeds my expectations I would tip at least 15%. If the cake didn't look exactly like I wanted or she was late I would not do more than 10% in a tip. If however she showed up late and the cake was not right I might decide not to tip at all.
Remember Tips are To ImProve Service...if you think you might want to use the services again tip at least something. If you think you will never use it again don't be afraid to express your dissatisfaction by not tipping at all!
Tipping would be a nice since its custom made =)
Since she has no delivery fee, you should probably tip her.
I think that you should tip her since she is spending all that time making it special for you and she is also bringing it to you at no extra charge...
Ah....the question to tip or not to tip? Ulimately the choice is yours. If it is her company and she personally delivers it,,,,my guess is she will not anticipate a tip. Did she go above and beyond "just delivering" the cake ie, did she make sure it was where you wanted it/ Check to make sure it was fully intact (no bumbs during delivery). I make my living on tips so I always say yes......but here only if she goes the extra distance.
Do you tip the pizza delivery person? Then why not tip her!!! at least 10%
It is standard procedure to tip employees who are doing a job for their bosses.. However, if she owns her own company then her expenses are built into the price of the cake. At least as an owner of the service she should not expect a tip.
Good Luck
Hotttt Dotttt
I'd tip her $5.
