Is It Tacky For a Birthday?!

Question: We had to cancel my son's 4th birthday party because his best friend has symptoms of the pink eye.
So it will be just me, my spouse, and our little boy. Since we are too tired to cook a homemade meal and bake a cake, is it tacky if just 3 of us go to Olive Garden to celebrate our little one's birthday? We will bring his birthday gifts to open at the restaurant.

It's not tacky at all. You should do what you (the family) enjoy. Besides, who is going to think it's tacky if there are no other guests? Relax and have a nice evening.

Not at all....have fun with just the family...I don't think they sing happy birthday there anymore...but i could be wrong. Hope you have fun.

its not tacky, but can i ask... Olive Garden for a 4 yr. old??? he may like McD's better. But no go and have a good time as a family

That is just fine. He is too young to fully understand. I'm sure as long as there are presents to open he will be just fine. I would even let him pick the place to eat if that is an option.

Not tacky at all--in fact, your little boy will probably get a nice free dessert with a candle in it and lots of singing servers. Lucky guy!

(Maybe you could reschedule a sort of "play date" later as a consolation for his friend not being at the actual birthday party?)

No, it's not tacky but I'd let the kids decide where HE wants to go. Mine (at that age) whould have chosen Chuck E Cheese or the like.

Not tacky just a cop out. You are canceling three year old party for pink eye? If the best friend doesn't touch his eye and then your son's you will be fine. In a few years he will be too old for parties. He will want just the olive garden meal. You better enjoy these years while you can.

not tacky, but why not go someplace he'll have more fun at like chuckEcheese or Fudruckers or something or McDonalds so he can play and have fun with some other kids.

No, people have parties at restaurants all the time. Be sure and sing loud. The other tables will enjoy it!

No that's fine for you to do. Have fun!
