What exactly are you needing help with? costume ideas? Food ideas? places to have it? music?
First, maybe you should start with a color scheme. Choose royal colors. and you should choose whether you want it to be formal, cocktail, or informal type of event. I think formal (with gowns and tuxedos) would be more authentic, even though it would be more expensive for the guests.
If you are serving food, it should be something classy. Are you going to have a sit down time, or just eat when you feel like it? If it's a refreshment bar, you should have a chocolate fountain.
Of course you should have the traditional unmasking at 12:00.

Firstly, you need a theme and being a Masquerade Ball, everyone must have a mask or something similar-
Animals
Witches, warlocks and magic
Fairy tale characters
Favourite pop/rock/jazz/opera star
Favourite movie character
Secondly, you need to think about food/drinks -
Everyone who attends must bring something that's either sweet/savoury/healthy/vegetarian etc.,
Make the food yourself with your friend or family members,
Find a nice, inexpensive and reputable local caterer,
Book a room at a hotel: many hotels have function rooms and supply food and drinks as part of the service
Thirdly, think of the entertainment (this also depends on where you have the party)-
Karaoke singing with Singstar
Hire a DJ to play 80s,90s or whatever music you like
Request your guests to bring a CD with music they like and play on your home stereo system/CD player
Finally, have fun!!!
FATHER TIME/ WINTER NYMPH MASQUERADE!!!!! Lots of silver glitter and fake snow!!! Call it a white out masquerade!!! Like P.Diddy's infamous white party. Require all white dress and some semblence of a mask. Then, as the hosts, show up in bright red!!! Stand out and still be christmasy!!!! I'm totally using this idea.... wish I were invited!!!!!
Answer have all women dress like men and Vice versa give prize for best dressed couple don't have be married ethier!!!
and include head to toe!! no cheating...everything down to coats etc.
