I'm Planning a Holiday Work Christmas Party & Need Ideas!?!

Question: Hey,

My mom & I are trying to come up with an in-expensive holiday Christmas party for the employees & their spouses (about 25 people total) ...We don't want to go through a catering company since they charge extra fees & are pretty outrageous on their prices.

What are some ideas for affordable foods & decor? We already have some gifts & the holiday tree/garland, etc... but what are some good foods to serve for 25 people that aren't really expensive??

Thanks

I just provided food for a group of 50 for under $100.

We fried to bags of wings from Sams (try Wal-Mart or Cotsco). as well as a fruit tray, veggie tray, and a variety of cookies (M&M, Choc. chip, oatmeal raisen, sugar, whit choc. chip macadamea) along with a Variety of drinks.

For classy-looking decorations use scented pine cones, mini wreaths, and a variety of pine items. Add lights and/or white candles in a variety of sizes. Maybe even add some mistletoe and a poinsettia.

See the image below for an idea:

ham and rolls, shredded beef or turkey for sandwiches.

Use a few crock-pots (borrow if you dont have more than 1 or 1 at all) on your serving tables to keep warm Li'l Smokies in BBQ sauce and Swedish Meatballs (the sweet one- some cal them Party Meatballs) going for people to eat all day. Also, go and get a few bricks of chese in diff varieties and chop into cubes youself to make a cheese platter. Do the same for a fruit tray. For one of your met choices, have fried chicken- most people like it. Some good sides would be potato salad, baked beans, mac and cheese. You can even make it sort of a pot luck and ask people to bring their own special dish. As far as decor- you can hit any dollar store and get little holiday wreaths, figurines, red and green balloons, etc.. Good Luck.

Make it a pot luck meal or ask for a donation of $10.00 per person and buy food accordingly. Last year, each person in our department donated $20.00 and we ordered lunch from the catering menu of Maggiano's. It was very good and some people made a dessert.

My father has parties all the time for is office and usually we cook the meat and everyone else brings the side dishes. My mom bought some cocoa flavored chex mix for one f my parties once. You can also by all store brand food and arrange it on holiday plates, platters, and bowls. Buy in bulk too- go to BJ's or Costco or Sam's. If you have left overs, you can put them out in the office for snacks, eat it for dinner, or freeze it and use it for New Year's. Hope this helps!

Is it a lunch or dinner?

you could do a few options - Pot Luck
or
serve big sub sandwich, pizza, chicken, beef, mostaccoli,

PASTA, Nice Rolls, A couple of different green salads (caesar, and garden), and some desserts. Pasta goes a long way, fills people up, and is really inexpensive.

you could check
Martha Stewart.com
for non-alcoholic
cranberry drinks
and
pomegranate drinks
(she makes great drinks)
