Has anyone ever been to the restaurant called The Melting Pot?!

Question: I was planning to go sometime but I wasn't sure. And what do people mean when they say 'you cook for yourself'.

YES and it is the most amazing resteraunt in the world. Before you go i would recommend looking at the menu online cuz it might seem a little confusing (it is also a little pricey) When they say you cook yourself it means that if you get the main course they give you a plate of raw meat (or seafood depending on what plate you get) and they give you a pot of bullion or hot oil (get the bullion it is a lot less dangerous) and you put you preferred meat on a skewer and put it to cook in the pot and then dip it in whatever sauce you want. They also offer a cheese course and a dessert course.

its fondue.
ive never done it, but from what i understand you kind of decide what you eat and put it into a pot that either boils the food or fries the food, something like that.

im sure if you wikipedia fondue it would give you a better idea.
The melting pot is always mentioned as a great first dateplace where i live.

Hope you have fun, and enjoy the food!

This resturant serves dishes which are cooked by the customers themselves at their own tables, either using hot pots or hot plates. All the dishes are already seasoned and prepared in the kitchen except cooking.

It's a restaurant where all of the food is served fondue style, meaning, in small pieces so you can dip it into something and cook yourself.

I've never been there (the prices are pretty high) but I've heard it's a lot of fun.

If you're getting the fondue as a main course, you would most likely get raw meat and/ or vege's and a fondue pot full of a broth to dip them in and cook them. Once they're done, you can eat.

Fondue is also popular as a cheese (the most popular) dish, where the cheese is melted in the pot. You can get an arrangement of fruit (apples, pineapple, and grapes for example) and maybe some hearty bread. Just skewer, dip, and enjoy.

For dessert, you can get the chocolate fondue. It's melted chocolate, and you'll get an arrangement of snacks like pretzels, maybe some bread, candy, even cookies and marshmellows, to dip into the chocolate fondue and enjoy.

Yes, I've been and really enjoyed it.

They do fondue. If you get a whole three courses, there is a choice of cheese fondues to start. For the "main course" fondu, you also have several choices. They bring you a pot, put simmering, highly seasoned broth in it. (some choices have wine in the broth). They then bring you a plate of small pieces of raw meat and seafood. You place a pieces into the simmering pot and cook it. It's fun.

Dessert is a choice of several types of chocolate fondu

OMG!!!!!!!! I went there years ago in St. Petersburg, FL and I LOVED IT. At that time the had a kind of full meal thing where you had Cheese fondue for apps and then an assortment of meat, seafood and veg for main, then desert. Yes, it was a bit expensive but a lot of fun and GOOD!

Give it a try I bet you'll love it too.

It's a fondue place. I would not recommend it. Fondue is amazing, but the melting pot is way overpriced for the low quality they offer. In my opinion, it's a wanna-be fancy place.
Try a real French or Swiss restaurant- you'll pay more, but the food will be much better.
