What is a Bologna sandwich?!

Question: I am a former chef and correct Bologna or Baloney in some place is a fine emusified beef, pork or combo of both here in Canada we have one made with chicken and it is not much leaner than the beef/pork type.

It is a wurst type sausage from Europe, there you will find it mostly in porkor in Austria they have a wonderful veal one, in the US it has much more pronunced smokey flavour either due to it being steamed then smoke or having the flavour in the mix before cooking.

I am older and my mother would buy a piece of bologna and we would slice it and fried it in a pan with butter or marg and slapped it on 2 slice of white bread with mustard, like a hot dog sandwich. Here in Canada it is also affectionatly known a "Newfie Steak", people from the province of Newfoundland like it in the same fried manner but with Kraft Dinner (or in the US Mac and Cheese) or mashed potatos and a side veg, like the U.S is with Spam

bologna... no one really knows, but it's sort of like a hot dog in round discish form that people put on sandwiches, often w/ mayonase.

OSCAR MAYER!

Bologna/Baloney Is beef and/or pork and probably some other meats. all put together and processed into a big roll. You can get it sliced in the deli or dairy section of the grocery store.

isa has it spot on. Called Bologna/Baloney in the States because the Mortadella sausage, on which it is based, is native to Bologna.
You will find it OK in most large deli counters here.... but NOT called Bologna/Baloney!
